Flying into Lukla, the gateway to Everest.

With time against him, Josh took to the skies to make up ground on the route to Everest Base Camp.

After extensive acclimatisation at altitude and preparation using a hypoxic sleeping chamber, the real expedition was about to begin.

🚀 B.A.S.E. Jumping Community Edition — Deployment System Update v1.19.1

The new deployment system is now expanded with three jump/deployment modes:

* STOWED — original deployment method
* HANDHELD — pilot chute held before exit, then released manually
* STATIC LINE — automatic deployment after leaving the exit

What’s new in v1.19.1

* Added Static Line deployment mode
* Mission Browser now cycles between:
STOWED → HANDHELD → STATIC LINE
* New deployment HUD messages
* Static Line automatically triggers after exit
* Existing pilot-chute and canopy physics are still used
* Original Stowed deployment remains intact
* Handheld mode from v1.19.0 remains fully supported
* Reserve / cutaway behavior preserved
* Acrobatics v1.18.1 systems remain compatible
* Static Line statistics stored separately in SLDEP1

Static Line HUD

Before exit:
STATIC LINE ARMED | AUTO DEPLOY ON EXIT

After activation:
STATIC LINE RELEASED | CANOPY DEPLOYING

Current development direction

Next major work will focus on the new malfunction system, including more detailed opening problems, deployment failures, canopy malfunctions, and testing/debug controls.

Current version: v1.19.1 — Static Line Deployment

More testing and improvements coming soon. 🪂

It started as an attempt to find an exit point for the highest BASE jump ever. The expedition was filled with setbacks, difficult decisions, oxygen problems, and, eventually, after reaching the summit and then finding an exit point with good weather conditions , there was then a logistical issue with some of the equipment. Meaning the jump couldn’t happen within the weather window.

But whatever the outcome of the jump, standing on the summit of Everest is something very few people will ever achieve.

For now, this shows josh reflecting at the memorial site below Mount Everest, supported by the one and only @buffalosystems.

The expedition didn’t go exactly to plan, but still achieved something extraordinary.
