I’m incredibly proud to be given the chance to run the London Marathon in 2027 🏃‍♂️ 😎 on behalf of the @mountbatten_iw

However, unfortunately the reason I’m running is because my dad sadly passed away in April this year from Cancer 😔

The Hospice staff and volunteers really were incredible and gave my dad the most comfort that he could have possibly got in his condition.

Any donations will be greatly appreciated 👊🏼

Hill Climbs Championship

Congratulations to everyone who picked up a prize and a huge thanks to everyone for supporting the event.

Our long awaited Grand Draw in aid of the team’s charity partner Mountbatten Isle of Wight also took place on Sunday 27th October after the Hill Climbs

With 50 fantastic prizes up for grabs ticket sales went through the roof on the day and the final amount raised topped £1,355, which now brings our fundraising total for the past 7 years to over £10,000!

We were delighted to have Duncan Fleming, one of Mountbatten’s Directors, join us on the day and it added weight to our fundraising efforts hearing first hand about the charity’s amazing work both in the hospice and the local community 🌻

Congratulations to all the lucky winners 🥳

Huge thanks go out again to everyone who donated prizes, especially to team sponsors Wightlink Isle of Wight Ferries, Island Renewables Ltd, Wight Mountain, Rapanui, Adrian’s Bike Shop and also Stolen Goat who came up trumps with a £200 voucher.

Completed it mate.

Before we started I was aiming for anything around 2 hours but getting this time was incredible!!

Honestly, I didn’t train anywhere near enough as I should have and I was paying for that at mile 7 onwards….but I did it!!!

👏🏽A HUGE thank you to all my supporters and sponsors. You are the best. We’ve raised an incredible amount for @mountbatten_iw 👏🏽

An even bigger thank you to @hols_vickeryy for sticking with me the whole way round.
Holding your hand and crossing the finish line together was the perfect ending to a great morning!

Something exciting is happening this October half terms in our home community, the Isle of Wight📍

Starting this Sunday, our Glimmerstone treasure hunt is BACK! We ran this at Easter and it was a huge success, 10 Glimmerstones, 10 Treasure Hunts, 10 prizes and over £120 raised for our charitable partner @mountbatten_iw

It runs only on Facebook (as most of our local followers are there, rather than here). So head over there for the info.

Mountbatten are a so important to our community and care for thousands of people a day! So we will continue to support as best we can whilst sharing Zoe's Story

They also cared for Zoe during her final days, and her words were "they saved my life" 💛

Hopefully a lot of awareness and signatures also raised during this!

A different Monday morning for me today. Privileged to attend the annual service marking the Beginning of the Law Year 2026-27 with @highsheriffiw in @newportminster. A rousing and thought-provoking service in our community.

It was wonderful to join distinguished guests for lunch afterwards hosted by the @highsheriffiw so beautifully prepared and served by our catering team @mountbatten_iw.

As I come to the end of my first year as CEO of @mountbatten_iw and @mountbattenhampshire during #HospiceCareWeek, I’ve been reflecting on the year.

Taking over from the inspirational @nigel_hartley1 meant stepping into ‘big shoes’. With size 7 feet I was never going to have the same size shoes! I have however, been fortunate to learn from the very best -his wisdom, tenacity and guidance shaping my thinking. This year though has been about finding my own feet in leading our two hospices, guided by my experiences and my values, and it has certainly been a year of growth and stretch.

Despite more than 21 years in hospice care, there has been much to learn. My deeply personal experiences, both as a family member with close family supported by hospice care and as someone who has navigated two unrelated cancers myself, continue to shape my passion for ensuring people receive the right care, in the right place and, at the right time.

There have been significant challenges to face this last year, particularly around proposed statutory funding cuts in both hospices. We’ve landed in a better place than initially feared, however, it’s not perfect. There is still much work to do to secure sustainable hospice funding alongside partners such as @hospice_uk UK. Check out their four-point funding plan - it makes complete sense.

I am incredibly proud to lead a team whose expertise is matched only by their kindness in bucketloads. Together, they deliver an innovative model of 24/7 care, striving to be there when people most need them. This is in the face of rising demand, growing complexity and increasing pressures across health and social care.

As I begin my second year as CEO, I remain more determined than ever to ensure our hospices are resilient, sustainable and able to reach everyone who needs us. We cannot do this alone. It takes partnerships, communities and collective effort.

Thank you to everyone who has supported, challenged and encouraged me during this first year. I believe it takes a community to run a hospice, and together working with and for you, we can continue to make a difference 💛

Last month, we hosted our annual Captiva Golf Day, bringing together our Construction Team and Contractors for an enjoyable day on the course and an opportunity to recognise and thank them for their continued hard work across our developments.

This year, we were proud to dedicate the event to raising funds for @mountbatten_iw , supporting the vital hospice and end-of-life care they provide to people and families across the Isle of Wight.

During a visit to Mountbatten, we learnt that 81% of the care they provide takes place within the community, with 19% delivered at the hospice itself. Donations play an important role in helping Mountbatten continue to deliver this essential care and support across the Island.

Thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we’re proud to have raised over £1,000 for Mountbatten.
