The flyer is officially here!

On Saturday, November 14th, we’re tackling the 12th Annual Umatilla Kiwanis 5K!

Last year, 166 people participated.

This year, we want 250+.

But more importantly, we want to bring our community together for a morning that supports a great cause.

Every registration helps support our local schools and scholarships for graduating seniors right here in our community.

You DO NOT have to be a runner to participate.

Run it. Walk it. Chase a PR. Bring your family. Build a team. Just come be a part of it!

We’re especially encouraging local businesses, teachers, students, run clubs, gyms, and community organizations to create teams and see who can bring the biggest crew on race day.

And if you’ve been thinking about doing your first 5K, this is your sign.

You’ve got plenty of time to start training, and Tilla Fit is going to do everything we can over the next couple of months to help get people ready.

Run the weekend will always be about championing others no matter what we do.

A few months back our pal Jonathan reached out to pitch an idea.

“Have you seen that viral video where a guy puts ingredients into his bag and runs until it literally churns into ice cream? I want to do that with a group”

As we talked more he said he wanted it to be a charity event to benefit @iamdavidlawrence’s New York City marathon run for @twloha.

We agreed, and got to work. We’ve already told you about the event, but we want to tell you about our friend too!

Once again, the Run Clubs of Mount Dora invite you to join them in a FREE red, white & blue run/walk around our beautiful town!

This time, we’ll be starting off at Becker’s Best Shoes, who are excited to get in on the action with some SHOE GIVEAWAYS, a professional fitter/consultant on-site, and discounts for all participants!

Event begins at 5:30 at Becker’s (404 N Donnelly St.), with giveaways, route info, and a group photo.

All runners and walkers will make their way through the 5K route at their own pace, and reconnect at Shadrach’s Fiery Furnace at the end for special Mega-Run deals on their fantastic food and drinks!

Tag the friends you want to sweat with, make sure you wear your red/white/blue, and bring the whole crew out for some real Florida mid-summer fun!

Happy Global Running Day!

5 years ago I ran my first race because a friend asked me to. Prior to that, the only running I ran was in softball and max a mile. Fast forward through the years and I have gone from running 5ks to 10k to half marathons! But besides races, running has brought me so much strength in my health, mindset, and overall just knowing myself. It has brought me numerous opportunities, new friends, and great memories.

No matter your pace, skill level, if you’re a run/walker, etc, you are a runner and we should all be grateful for the opportunity to be able to run! Happy to say today I ran my full 3.1 miles; longest since donating my kidney(not run/walking).
Can’t wait to see where it takes me!
