POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Big month at GoingTo. 🎉

New look, same local picks. Every event now wears its category color, so you can spot your kind of event at a glance.

You can talk about events right on the event now. Ask about parking, see who’s been, find people to meet up with.

And with community updates, locals can mark a show cancelled or postponed when the listing hasn’t caught up. If it’s your event, it’s still yours. You hear about every change and can put it back with one tap.

Over 4,000 events published in Hampton Roads, and 600+ still coming up. So what’s missing? Know something good happening around here? Post it, share it, invite your friends.

Real people. Real events. Link in bio.

Camping trip 2: 3 days at First Landing State Park in Virginia Beach, Virginia

Kept it simple and slow — s’mores & pulling tarot by the fire, fresh fruit on the beach and hours spent right at the edge of the water just soaking it all in. Music playing, breeze rolling through, sun on my skin. Nothing to prove, nowhere to be - just feeling the stillness my heart needs. Sitting at the beach during sunrise or sunset is one of the most magical things to experience and will forever be my favorite thing to do.

I’m really loving camping out and sleeping in a hammock. Younger me would never believe I’d be doing this, much less loving it! 😅 Here’s to more adventures ahead! 🍉🏕️🌊🌅❤️‍🩹

While in the VA Beach area, be sure to check out:
🗻 @mounttrashmore for biking, running, boating, kite flying and much more!
🍴 @marysrestaurant for a delicious meal!
🛍️ @norfolkpremiumoutlets for some shopping!

Where are we ? 👀

The Clues:🧐

I was once a landfill, but now I’m a landmark.

I stand 60 feet tall and stretch over 160 acres.

My neighbors include a massive eagle and a "stairway to nowhere."

✨Answer: Mount Trashmore Park

Mount Trashmore Firework Show

This is Virginia Beach. ❤️🇺🇸

Back in the 1960s, Virginia Beach needed somewhere to dispose of its growing amount of trash. Instead of simply abandoning the landfill when it filled up, the city decided to cap it with layers of clean soil and transform it into a public park.
-
The park is about 165 acres and includes:

Two fishing lakes
Nearly 2 miles of paved walking paths
Playgrounds
Volleyball courts
Picnic shelters
The well-known skate park

Wide-open lawns for festivals, concerts, and community events

It welcomes more than a million visitors in many years, making it one of Virginia Beach’s busiest parks.
The result opened in 1974 as Mount Trashmore Park. Today it’s one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks.
