What happens when you follow the tug instead of the plan? Grief and a dysregulated nervous system brought Ailsa Lochhead to a turning point. Movement became how she found her way through, and it changed her decisions, her work, and her sense of what’s possible. Ailsa is the founder of @movetofeel: dancing outdoors in the park or on the beach, headsets on, moving from a slow warm-up through to full dance and back to stillness lying down. Episode 2 of The Body is out now. Link in bio. Enjoy the short body scan, with Ailsa talking you through it. Five minutes to arrive back in yourself. Want to try it in person? Ailsa’s Hunter’s Moon beach session is this Sunday, 25 October, 7pm. The clocks go back that morning, so there’s an extra hour to spend. Next one is the Beaver Moon on Friday 27 November. No steps to learn, no experience needed. Booking via @movetofeel. #TheBodyAtWork #WorkingForProgress #MoveToFeel #SomaticMovement #NervousSystemHealth #TribePorty #EdinburghPodcast

Another fantastic year at @backdounetherabbithole : Scotland’s most magikal independent music festival. Thank you so so much to everyone who ventured down by the river to The Dreaming Den to step out, switch off and take your time. From yoga to pilates, mindfulness in nature to moving to feel; mediation to men’s circles; sound baths to sewing, you left replenished and resourced to go back out there and dance the night away! A massive thank you to all the facilitators who poured their heart and soul into their workshops. To our holistic therapists who restored vitality to aching bodies. To our neighbours in The Secret Garden who brought all the vibes. To Brian and the team for the tremulous work that goes on behind the scenes making the weekend possible. To our wellness crew who stayed up until the early hours making dreamcatchers and clouds. To the land for holding us all weekend and the wise tree beside which we gathered. There is so much Magik held within the land of @cardross_portofmenteith and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to curate this little cog in the big wheel of such a fantastic festival reminding us that we’re all dreamers. ✨ WE NEED YOU! ☁️ If you’d like to have your say with how to make next year’s Dreaming Den even better, we want to hear from you. Whether it’s what you loved or what you’d love to see, comment DREAMING below and we’ll send you a quick form. Want to get involved next year? We’re looking for facilitators, tarot readers, reflexologists and masseuses. Know someone? Send us an email at wellness@backdounetherabbithole.co.uk. Until next year, keep dreaming!! Early bird tickets go live tomorrow morning at 9am 🎉🌳☀️🪽✨☁️ Lots of love, Foxey 😘✨🪽

Happy Solstice! Thanks to Ailsa from @move.tofeel for a gorgeous hailing of the light. A special morning with special people. Was too down with the cold manage the solstice skinny dip - but this was exactly everything I needed and didn't know I did. Turning the corner. Light coming.

“In a word, pleasure. My pleasure in other people’s leisure.” Open now! The Thread That Pulls @visualartsscotland @royal_scottish_academy Runs until 2 January. Delighted to see Roll the Dice in this beauty of an exhibition in such a cracker of a space. Commissioned by @artwalkprojects in conjunction with @nobles_amusements_portobello my collaborative work with @move.tofeel was one of 5 Arcade commissions. In response to Portobello’s seaside era of showground entertainment and travelling showpeople culture, ARCADE explored public spaces in and around Portobello Beach and Promenade as a playground for encounter. Footage from a special @move.tofeel dance session mixed with super8 from the arcade, the film finds chance patterns and the tensions between randomness and repetition, pleasure and discomfort, connection and disconnection, winning and losing. Our natural wooden arcade console (thanks @oldschoolfabrications ) features tactile waved grooves instead of the buttons you bash on a typical arcade machine, offering a different sensory experience.
