When I started creating Dynamic Pilates fusions in 2003 (contemporary as it’s called today blended with barre, functional training and yoga style flows and stretches) I was widely criticised as Classical was the norm back then and this really did not exist! They would come to my classes and say “This is NOT Pilates” I stuck to my way of teaching as my classes were “rammed” and in high demand so I knew there was demand for my style of fusions and teachings. For the record I never said it was purist Pilates- they were my PBB Method fusions! And I’d like to also put this straight as currently and I was invited onto a podcast and they said word on the street was that I thought I invented Pilates 🤣🤣🤣🤣 UTTERLY ridiculous I know I am not Joseph Pilates nor have I claimed to be! But I will say I categorically was one of the first in my “era” to create these fusions. I am not a new kid on the block nor am I a new age Pilates Princess at the ripe old age of 55. My back ground was fitness and functional training starting out as a gym instructor and aerobics instructing in 1988 along side getting my degree in Perth, Australia. I went on to be a personal trainer and started my journey in Pilates in 2002 with @mkpilates - the OG and one of the best in the Pilates insfustry- (formerly known as The Pilates Institute). I went on to run the PBB Method in over 20 studios in South West London and opening 3 of my own boutique studios. I couldn’t have done this alone! Over the past 15 years I have run and facilitated numerous teacher trainings mentoring and courses with over 100 trainers. This is at the heart of what I love to do! Here is our latest session of mentoring for the PBB Method run in PBB Fulham.
