A very expensive but very tasty few days eating our way around the South of France 🇫🇷

First stop was @movida_nice on the seafront in Nice where we shared some tapas and a melon salad. The salad was SO good I’ve already bought the ingredients to recreate it at home! We also had croquettes and chicken goujons.

That evening we headed to @boccamar . We shared burrata and flatbread with tzatziki to start, followed by tuna carpaccio for me and pork with a side of potatoes for my friend. The food was nice, but if you go, ORDER SIDES! The mains literally come on their own. €26 for the pork and not even a bit of greenery felt a little stingy. We were also rushed off our table after less than 90 minutes despite booking for two hours, so probably not one I’d rush back to.

The next day we headed to Cannes for the fireworks and booked @plagelamandala . Absolutely zero regrets! The set menu was spenny but SO good. We had an amuse-bouche of bread, garlic butter/purée and smoked salmon, followed by the most divine scallop carpaccio and langoustines. The chocolate dessert might genuinely be one of the nicest puddings I’ve ever had. The amazing view of the fireworks made it even better!

Next up was @plagebeaurivagenice for lunch and their shellfish pasta. Lovely, although I’d have liked a little more variety of shellfish (give me some prawns!).

That evening dinner was essentially replaced by wine tasting, accompanied by homemade focaccia, dips, cheeses and meats. We used @4x4citytours. Would really recommend this, although three bottles between eight people felt slightly conservative when the wine was nice enough I could’ve drank that much myself!

Finally, brunch at @edmondcafe before heading home. I had the salmon Benny and my friend had the Sunny Benny pancakes and WOW. So good, and they even gave us a free bottle of water each when we paid.

Highlights: Mandala & Edmond
Dish I’m recreating at home: Movida’s melon salad. Probably wouldn’t rush back: Bocca Mar
Could have done with: approximately three times as much wine at the tasting

Very expensive, very delicious and I’d happily do it all again!
