BA collection - Dying (Dead) Look 3

The colors (and life) begin to retreat. The white takes over, patch by patch and relentlessly; we watch as the blue fades away, turning to a bleached white.

A dress and corset made from deadstock fabric, sprinkled with unique "sequins." The dress starts out blue, dyed by hand, but the color begins to fade and disappear - the blue washing out into a cold white.

Each sequin is melted by hand from blue and white PET bottle caps. The caps are cut into small pieces, mixed, and placed under an iron to be heated and shaped by hand. The pieces are formed, trimmed, polished, and varnished - one by one, entirely by hand, to mimic the textured surface of coral. Every sequin gets a unique, organic pattern that fades piece by piece. They are then hand-sewn onto the dress and corset, attached to both the exterior and interior. The sequins are also hand-sewn onto a pair of shoes and hair clips.

BA Collection - Dying (Dead)
Dying (Dead) is a defiant manifestation, created exclusively from waste. Each piece is built from what we have chosen to throw away – transforming waste into testimony. Showing how the coral reefs are dying.

Fashion is used here as a carrier of responsibility, knowledge and critique. It’s a refusal to participate in false solutions and a demand for a reversal. The garments are created entirely from waste – PET-corks, old climbing ropes, discarded seat belts, recycled official t-shirts, scrap pieces and deadstock fabric.

Showing how the tipping point for the coral reefs has been reached. That we have slaughtered the breathtaking splendor that was the heart of the ocean and now, only the eerie silence echoes in what once was the world's most vibrant place. This collection is a demand for a reversal.
