The beauty of music in community has never only been about the village gathering around the star artists; it is also about the village being stars and winning together through little moments.
:
Today, at the Village House by Black Music Village, for our second major programming; we rounded up a two month long experiment that had families gather around one question around re-imagining music education and boy was this an experience!
:
Seeing dads pick up the guitar again, drums and moms play their flute again… wow!
:
None of these would have been possible without the steadfast commitment of our families (parents and youth), CSpace Projects, the City of Calgary Microgrant and the entire faculty.
:
Follow us for more programs coming.

For weeks, we gathered…. Families and teachers… we gathered around one simple question: what would it look like if music education was not simply left in classrooms, studios and recital halls?
What if the entire family was more involved in the child’s learning? What if the place of creativity and learning was also a family’s place of deeper connection?
:
We don’t know if we have an answer yet but this process of being together and creating together has led us here. We feel ready to share together.
:
You should come.

Chin Chin is a crunchy and sweet fried dough. Kinda tastes like a biscuit. It is a popular West African snack originating in Nigeria. Some theories have it that Saro people returning from Sierra Leone introduced or refined it in the 1830s. Whatever happened😀, we are happy to have it and grateful to the originators🙏🏽. It’s popularity is growing even outside of Africa.🎉

If Chin Chin is missing from your Christmas/New Years menu, then you must be missing something!😊☺️🧐😉
