Patricia Leite, ‘Brilhante’, 2026.

Leite has generously donated this work to Artists for Climate Action, a joint initiative from Gallery Climate Coalition and Client Earth. Offered at Christie’s 20th/21st Century London Day Sale on Thursday 15 October, the work will raise funds for environmental action across the visual arts and legal action to protect people, nature and the climate. Together, these efforts connect change within the art world with action beyond it.

In ‘Brilhante’, Leite renders a nocturnal panorama: an undulating emerald-green mountain range set beneath an expansive indigo sky, anchored by a piercing white moon. Painted on wood, the work distills the natural landscape into a dreamlike, luminous meditation on light and time.

This Wednesday, October 7, I was deeply moved by the wonderful and subtle paintings of Brazilian artist Patricia Leite at the Mendes Wood Gallery in Paris’s Marais district.
We are faced with depictions that become evocations of past moments we might have experienced or witnessed—yet they were created by Patricia Leite in her studio in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, based on photos taken of various places by loved ones and sent to the artist.
These paintings invite the viewer to take the time to contemplate them. And that’s when the magic finally takes hold: the eye captures the myriad shades of color emerging from the depths.
I highly recommend seeing this exhibition, which runs through Saturday, October 10.

On view in Paris

Last days to see Patricia Leite’s (@mpatricialeite) “Travessia” at Mendes Wood DM, Paris, an exhibition which invites viewers into the artist’s vibrant world of landscape and recollection.

“Patricia Leite’s gaze is contagious. When she asks her friends to send her photographs that might inspire her to paint, it’s not so much about adopting their point of view as it is about sharing with them her way of seeing the world. Ever since I began living and thinking with her work, I often find that a certain sky at dawn, a certain branch silhouetted against the sky, or a certain abandoned lounge chair on a terrace remind me of her, even though I’m not one of those who send her their images.”
