In early August, I stopped @adamschiffca on the streets of Burbank to talk about how our industry has been decimated over the last 3 years, and it's affecting businesses all over Burbank/Los Angeles. Senator Schiff has mentioned this talk many times. Please go to #preserveburbank for a link to contact Congress about The Motion Picture, Television, and Entertainment Revitalization Act (MPTERA). We need the bill passed ASAP!

I'm a Local 700 Editor's Guild Member(Picture Editor) and Associate Member of American Cinema Editors. I've edited projects for 20th TV, Netflix, Amazon, HBO and more. Non-union work can pay some bills, but we need more reliable union jobs back. I'm just here trying to #preserveburbank and preserve myself staying in Burbank! DM me if you'd like to know more.

And contact your Congressperson today!

As a proud @iatse @mpeg700 member, I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the California IATSE Council @caiatse. The CIC represents 20 IATSE unions across California, advocating for the stagehands, technicians, and crew members behind film, television, theater and live events. Burbank is a union town, and the entertainment industry is central to our workers. I will work hard to bring back entertainment work, especially for my union brothers, sisters, and siblings. Everyone, whether they belong to one or not, benefits from a union.

🎬 $10 MILLION FOR CALIFORNIA'S POST-PRODUCTION INDUSTRY! 🎥

Another budget win for #AD44!

Secured $10 million in startup funding for AB 2319, which establishes a new tax credit incentive to support California's post-production industry.

Beginning January 1, 2027, post-production expenditures incurred in California will be eligible for the tax credit, regardless of where principal photography took place.

This investment will help:
🎞️ Keep high-wage post-production jobs in California
🎬 Increase the use of existing post-production facilities and scoring stages
🤝 Support local small businesses and vendors
💰 Generate economic activity across multiple sectors
🌟 Keep California competitive in the entertainment industry

From editing and sound mixing to visual effects and scoring, California's post-production workforce is an essential part of our entertainment economy.

We're investing in keeping these jobs, businesses, and opportunities right here in California!

Dear fellow editors, assistants and post-production professionals at ACE, TEMPO, HSE and around the world,

A few people have asked about the tools that have helped us over the years with our everyday work in post. With the support of editors who have passed through our doors, we’re making some of them available for free through PODLAB.

Three apps are currently available for Mac:

POUCH
Takes colour metadata from an Avid ALE and turns it into individual CDL files for the grading handover.

POSSUM
Transcribes audio and creates subtitles, with exports for Avid, SRT and text. Runs locally on your Mac.

POTTS-VOX
Lets you try temporary dialogue in the cut before a recording session. Create lines from text and a voice reference, or convert a recorded performance into a different voice. Runs locally on Apple Silicon Macs. Please use voice references only with permission.

They’re still in testing, so have a play and let PODLAB know what you think. What works? What’s a pain? What else would help?

If you find them useful, pass them on to your post team.

Sound on 🔊 Raw production audio → finished mix, layer by layer.

Score + sound design. Dialogue cleanup. Foley. Backgrounds. Every layer has a job — and one of them decides whether your title passes distributor QC.

Audio post is the part of the schedule that gets booked last and blamed first. Book it before picture lock, not after the QC report.

Producers with a title in post: DM the delivery date + the distributor.

𝗔𝗕 𝟮𝟯𝟭𝟵 𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱, 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗱, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱. 🎉

California's first-ever standalone post-production tax incentive is officially law. It's yours, and it happened because of you. Thank you to everyone who wrote letters and told their stories on camera.

Huge thanks to Assemblymember Nick Schultz and the District 44 team. More huge thanks to lobbyist Alberto Torrico, economist Adam Fowler, our co-sponsors at the Motion Picture Editors Guild, and Governor Newsom, who called this a down payment.

A supermajority of digital media workers at Theorist Media have signed cards to unionize with WGAW and IATSE Local 700. UNI, a global union bringing together workers from over 150 countries, is calling on LunarX CEO Clemens to do right by their workers and let them form a union by agreeing to card-check recognition.
