Wow, January flew by!

I had 7 finishes, chipping away at my UFOs and WIPs. I'm working on several right now, including samples for an upcoming pattern, a commission t-shirt quilt, a mystery quilt, and quiltcon fashion :)

In personal news, my son had a small operation to remove a popcorn kernel from his ear, Louisiana got more snow than we've had all year, and our puppy got spayed and acted like absolutely nothing happened.

Spent the morning on a virtual sew day with the lovely folks of the @mplsmqg working on this insanity.

After I took the photo here, I see something really goofy is going on with the last two rows I added, so I guess I have to figure out what's going on!

Another row for the @mplsmqg row quilt is done! These big curve blocks came together so much faster and easier than the tiny flying geese ones did last month. If you haven’t seen this before, all the main fabrics from this top come from leftover pieces of quilt backs. This month, the red is from the mini version of my #windsuitquilt and the gray is the panda version of #kpud100days Only two rows to go! #kpudrestofthequiltback

New project alert! I’m working with @nisi.laura to design a row-by-row challenge quilt for the @mplsmqg over the next nine months. She designed the basic layout and I’m making her blocks more complicated (a specialty of mine) for anyone who wants more of a challenge. My personal version of the quilt is called “The Rest of the Quilt Back” - each row will be made from fabric leftover from one or more quilt backs. It will not be very cohesive, but it will be a scrappy masterpiece. The back will follow suit and be pieced from all my flannel quilt back leftovers. I can’t wait to see what the final product looks like. It’s ok if you don’t recognize these fabrics - they are from a test quilt that I have never shared. After I’ve finished a major project, I’m at loose ends trying to figure out what to do next. My first thought was to jump on the #norahquiltsal bandwagon because I’ve always wanted to make one. So my idea was to use my @dsquilts fabric. I made the center block and then realized I don’t have long strips—mostly cuts smaller than fat quarters and precious scraps , so it would be super scrappy. Which might not be a bad thing but I’m just not sure. So I might make some blocks (thanks for the idea @crazymomquilts) like the second photo. Or put it all away and start something Christmas-y 🎄🎄Thoughts?
