Homesteading isn’t pretty. When done right it doesn’t look like it belongs on the cover of a lifestyle magazine. I have unintentionally learned & UNlearned so many things just by being in my backyard:

1. I’m constantly reminded that perfection is an unattainable goal we set for ourselves.

2. There is richness in simplicity.

3. Almost everything has more than one purpose or use and has 3+ lifecycles.

4. Some are supporters while some choose to be beneficiaries. You will always have more of one than the other. Only you can control which.

5. Chickens share your RBF problem but are always happy to see you.

7. Likeminded people are hard to come by… the underhanded “bless your hearts” become fuel to push the Fordstead further.

8. Hand watering > sprinkler system. Watering the garden is soo therapeutic. Life literally slows down and allows you to admire God’s work.

Can’t be bothered with a lettuce crisis when you have your own in the backyard!
It’s more important now than ever to grow your own produce and meat as much as you can. It doesn’t take much... a seed, some water, and a little faith!

The boys will tell you that every day is Father’s Day at the Fordstead. We forever honor, cherish, and celebrate the man God chose to lead our home. Thank you for leading with grace, always showing up, and showing out in every way.

Watching you walk in Fatherhood with our two boys and the village we’ve built is one of my greatest joys. Today and every day, we celebrate and appreciate you. Happy Father’s Day, Babe, G, Poppa, Dad & Coach!

Living hundreds of miles apart does not change the cousin bond they share! 🥰 Needless to say, they had a blast this weekend and were sad when it was time for everyone to go home. 🥹

And just like that! We move on to 3rd and 4th grade!!!

I cannot be more proud of the strong, smart, God-fearing young men these two are growing to be. Our tiny humans are truly coming into their own. They are still each other’s best friends and biggest rivals. I look forward to all the things next school year brings out of these boys! But for now… School Is Out!🕺🏾💃🏾🕺🏽🕺🏾

How it started vs how it ended! That’s a wrap for 1st & 2nd grade! These boys did amazing this year from trying new sports to excelling in the classroom and basking in God’s Truth. I love the tiny humans they are becoming. Even if they are both acquiring the same personality as my oldest child @mr_g_ford 🤣🥰
