4-H - I can’t say I knew what I was getting into when I showed up, because I didn’t know how many memories, friends, experiences, and doors you would bring that young kid. Being on the Louisiana 4-H State Executive Board for the past 4 years has been nothing short of amazing. Planning JLC and 4-H U each year enabled me to shape so many lives including my own. 4-H gave me a platform not only to uplift myself but to bring others along with me. Thank you for preparing me for the life I want for myself… @louisiana4h fill the seats up when I’m headlining. 4-Hers hit my line up or I’ll be forced to show up uninvited✌️🍀

Summing up convention is hard because so much happened. This convention was filled with so many emotions—both happy and sad.

Starting at the beginning, on Friday I had the honor of running for State Office. While I did not make the team, there are so many positive takeaways from the experience. I was fortunate enough to make it past the cut and experience the entire process. Along the way, I made so many new connections and learned from every single person I interacted with, whether it was during the nominating committee process or in the holding room. Most importantly, I got to watch some of my best friends achieve their dream of becoming state officers, and I cannot express how happy I am to see them serve.

After running for state office, I ran for area office again but once again fell short of earning a position. However, I see this as an opportunity. It gives me a chance to rediscover my “why,” continue growing, and come back stronger and more prepared next year. At the end of the day, not receiving a title is not the worst thing that can happen because leadership is not defined by a position.

One of the highlights of convention was that my Marketing Plan team earned first place, and my school’s Farm Business Management team also won first place. Bringing home two state banners was an incredible accomplishment, and we are beyond excited to represent Louisiana FFA in Indianapolis this fall.

Overall, convention taught me so much—not only about myself, but about leadership, perseverance, and the people around me. I had the opportunity to meet so many new friends from across Louisiana and even from other states. While this convention didn’t end exactly how I had planned, it gave me memories, friendships, lessons, and opportunities that I will carry with me for years to come.
