A sold-out crowd gathered at MCASD La Jolla on April 17 for the exclusive West Coast debut of “Giants: Art from the Dean Collection of Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys.” Guests enjoyed an unforgettable first look at the powerful exhibition — featuring more than 130 works by Black American and diasporic artists — while sipping cocktails, sampling bites, and taking in live music throughout the evening. Swizz Beatz and Alicia Keys were in attendance, adding to the electric energy of the night. The celebration continued late into the evening at Lou Lou’s Jungle Room, marking a vibrant kickoff to one of the season’s most anticipated exhibitions, which officially opened to the public on April 18 and is on view through August 9.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗛𝗲𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗖𝗔 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵!

Inspired by our 2025 exhibition season, 𝗢𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴, we gathered on May 17 to explore and consider how art can play a vital role in individual and collective well-being with the help of our partners:

➡️ Live, typewritten poetry by @haikuists
➡️ Cacao experiences by @mayamooncollective
➡️ Tarot card readings by @gaialifestylecuration
➡️ Angel card readings by @clairradiance

Thank you to our sponsors: Linda Brandes Foundation, @CapstoneAdvisors, @LidoAdvisors, and @USBank

A special thank you to @perroverdemezcal, Doctors Orders natural wine (@fermentationhouseofficial), and @crystalbluevibrations

Big shout out to our Gala Committee: Fredy Garcia, Lainey Gaura, Kate Lindberg, Holly Tullar, Dede Watson

𝗢𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 is a year-long exploration of the ways exhibiting artists—@ethanchanart @iamhalfasleep @aframarciel @lashermanasiglesias @que.fresca—address the various socio-cultural wounds amplified by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our Weekly Wellness Saturday events at ICA / North are an extension of our exhibitions and, through various movement, mindfulness, and self-guided art-making activities, offer various opportunities to consider healing on your own terms.
