In the midst of the heat of Coachella, you would find your friends from Show Vs Business (that'd be me and @tharvey2012). We found a cool (literally) spot to hang out called the Spectra. Best air conditioning in the festival.
.
But what was it? It was a photo op like a lot of the attractions there. You could feel the social media and influencer life all around. Not really maaaaad about it? But it's just something I noticed. My designer mind was racing on ways they could improve it and make the attractions better connected to the music.
.
Good stuff though. I even felt like I should get back in touch with my photo-blogging roots.

Sometimes I feel like a unicorn. Maybe that's why this picture happened. The thing I liked about the art scene was networking with interesting people and interesting art. I still like that. That's something thing I really haven't gotten back to since the pandemic started. I need to start up with some Metaverse gatherings or something.

I'm BAAAAACK for a special live guest appearance on the Pod Squadron show tomorrow. <@podsquadron> You should assume that I have thoughts on The Book of Boba Fett, so I suppose that it'll be time to talk some of it out with some good friends.
.
Search YouTube for "TheGeekishNetwork" on Monday, Oct 14, at 6:30pm. Jump in the chat and let them know Mr Benja sent ya!

So con season is coming up, and I was having a conversation with black game developers and con goers, and somehow Kadeem Hardison came up in discussion. It was probably relevant to your life, but by the time I found the picture from my smooth-faced days I'd forgotten what we were talking about. Anyway, he's a nice guy.
.
Post your relevant @kadeemhardison story in the comments.

Like...do you even read tho? See, books are excellent tools and I really don't give them enough airtime. I'm going to change that. Growing up, I was a library kid that would savor trips with my dad. Every outing was a different journey down some path. Basically, each one is a concentrated compendium of thoughts, ideas, knowledge, and information. Hell, you don't even have to agree with the book or get any good information from them to learn something.
.
In this snack-sized, social media world, I still find many benefits from taking deep dives into books...electronic, aural, or physical.
.
So what do you like to read? I usually dig into the self-development, psychology, or whatever the psychonauts are going on about. Let me know in the comments.

Reading/Writing inspiration by @rwwrites, @perseph0neinnana, @tonemilazzo, @patrickhickeyjr, and @fernthecamper.
Wall art by @rickyhernandezart.
Shirt by @8bitcubist. (More coming this summer.)
Post prompted by @libertymadison + @timferriss.

March 5, 2020: We had just heard about a pandemic breaking out...somewhere. It was conceptually far away, but had hit a few US locations here and there. I spoke with @winthimage of Studio 361, and we decided we should go on with hosting the group show. We were far away from any heavily affected centers and we could implement some rudimentary safety protocols for greeting and sanitizing. But the way the information was going around, it reminded me of the movie "The Birds". No places were closing, but a few people had decided to stay home. Something in the air did feel different though. It made some people uncomfortable, others were frustrated. Some people did. We all had fun though.
.
Man...we had no clue what the next several weeks and months would hold for us. Things change quickly. Would you be up for more art events in 2021?

When in doubt, I’ll use FB for conversations like this NFT chat I had with Johnny Tran <@johnnytranartmusic> of Thumbprint Gallery in San Diego <@thumbprintgallery>. You can get mad at Zuck and the software if you want, but it's a very useful and a technically sound platform. Use platforms in ways that work with your vibe and your life will be MUCH easier. Anything outside of that is on you. -- Anyway, I uploaded this whole conversation to YouTube if you want to check it out. I'll add clips here if I get around to it. — #nft #nftart #modernart #podcast

THROWWWWBAAAAACK! Not sure why, but I don't talk that much about my time at Florida A & M University. I was getting my undergrad in Computer Information Systems. (MSU was later.) I was usually working hard on something and wasn't thinking about anything aside from breaking down the video game hustle. -- Thanks to @bellslyfe for finding this classic image of the members of the CIS Club making all those other unkempt and bummy computer types on campus look bad. Also, I miss that fade that my dad used to hook me up with. Never really got that back after I left home.

So...getting into the habit of talking online got me thinking about this time back in San Diego at Comic Con time with @godricjohnson @gnbcosplay and @ashichanbakes where we were out there speaking on that HLNS during the San Diego . I forgot the exact topics, but we had fun. I think @chinesepirate_ asked a good question too. Or he may have just been yelling at us to get off the stage because our time was up.

Here's a little throwback with a different context. Earlier I was talking about "eff zoom". Well this is a throwback to some good times that happened to occur on FB Messenger. This is a small artist talk that we had going on a little while after the pandemic hit. We were talking about branding and making money in this new economy. Fun times! Man, I may have to get back on the video chat and talk some of that good ish.

Shout out to @js_vocals for continuing to push on and do good things. This picture is from one of our rare meetups in Los Angeles near Beverly Hills several years back. Good times. — Continue the journey fam!
