PORSCHE X ATARI “Taycan Arcade”

The original idea was Porsche Pong in a studio with a projected pixel ball. What if we could push it further and make the stakes a little higher.

So we moved it to a runway at night and turned the pixel into a flying LED cube mounted to a race drone. The team at @xm2cine dived into the engineering and technical challenge and, with limited testing and a whole lot of can-do energy, absolutely brought it on the night.

Huge thanks to @giles.watson and Beck for backing a risky spin on their great idea. It was an ambitious shoot that demanded a lot from everyone involved, but seeing how people responded to the finished film made it all worthwhile.

GMSV SILVERADO Live Big.
Make Australia V8 Again!

This week, Australia introduced a social media restriction for young people under 16. It’s something I’ve thought about for hours…long enough that I felt compelled to make a short film in relation to the topic. ‘Screentime’ isn’t just about social media; it looks at the wider role screens play throughout childhood, but it’s built on the same concerns behind the ban. A collection of small moments that sit somewhere between concern, curiosity and hope.

Some key scenes in the film:

Slide 2: Inspired by the quiet inner world of teens making TikToks. The pressure, the performance, the need to be seen. I wanted to hint at that internal dialogue, gently and without judgement.

Slide 3: This is the opening scene of the film and it throws you straight in. A visual clash between real play and screens…familiar, absurd, and a little unconventional.

Slide 4: We’ve all seen this. What gets me is the missed chance for connection. Those small, throwaway conversations where kids quietly learn about the world. Screens can so easily steal that away.

Slide 5: One of my favourite scenes. Luke (DOP) and I set it up, then just let the camera roll. Eventually the kids forgot we were there. Everything you see from the posture, the reaction to their mum is completely real.

Slide 6: The turning point. When the screens die & boredom arrives and boredom is uncomfortable. But it’s in that quiet nothingness that imagination starts. It’s hard to articulate boredom, because nothing really happens, yet I think it’s one of the most important parts of childhood for creativity and problem-solving.

Slide 7: The final scene. I wanted to leave the ending open, a quiet space for the viewer to sit with their own thoughts about screens in childhood.

I’m so incredibly excited to finally share that Screentime is now online and live to watch in full. Link’s in my bio. 👆(trailer shown in this reel)

Synopsis:
Screentime is a narrative short film and gentle social commentary exploring how children today experience childhood through screens. It draws a quiet, reflective comparison to a time before devices existed. It poses the question: is our relationship with screens harmless, or is it quietly stripping something essential away?

Through this film, I wanted to show how screen time can deprive children of those beautiful, intangible moments of emptiness. Boredom, stillness, imagination. All the things that are vital for growth.

What started as a passion project turned into something so much bigger than I ever imagined. I thought it was just going to be a portfolio piece, but it took me on a wild little adventure I didn’t see coming. I had no idea what I was doing half the time (hello imposter syndrome), but wowie, the personal growth was real!!

To every wonderful human who held my hand, gave advice, shared their time, skills and energy, thank you. 🙏 I’ve well and truly squeezed every last drop out of this project. And yes, I know you’re all probably sick of hearing me blab on about it.

If you’ve got 7 minutes to spare, grab a drink and sit with this little sentiment. It’s a quiet film. Not perfect, not fast or flashy. But I’m pretty bloody proud of it. #shortfilm #screentime

So honored to announce that my debut short film ‘Screentime’ has officially been selected for the 2025 Oscar Qualifying St Kilda Film Festival. @stkildafilmfest

The film will screen on June 7th at 4:30pm at the Astor Theatre, St Kilda as part of the Brave New Worlds session. @astortheatremelb

Tickets available via the link in bio.

This means a lot to me, not just as a filmmaker, but as someone deeply passionate about telling stories that matter. Screentime is a personal project that explores the effect of digital devices on childhood, and being part of St Kilda Film Festival feels like a huge milestone.
