One thing about us… we’re going to commit to the theme. 😂

I’m a little late posting, but now that we’re dreaming up ideas for birthday #4, sharing my favorite so far!

We turned our house into a tiny Monsters University campus… and honestly, what else would you expect from two higher education professionals?!

Some of my favorite little details:
🎓 Every guest received their own Financial Aid Package complete with campus cash they could spend throughout the day.
👻 They could “buy” goodies at the Campus Store or use their funds to join a student organization (shoutout to my personal favorite, Eta BOO Lambda 😂).
💚 We had an Adopt-a-Monster station, slime lab, and a campus royalty competition… because this former campus queen couldn’t resist. 👑
🍕 The “CAF” served pizza, while The Yard’s Poppin’ Popcorn Bar kept everyone fueled for the festivities.
🃏 Adults went home with Spades decks, kids got Monster Study Buddy goodie bags, and to wrap up the day, Gerald thanked every guest with an official parking citation. 🚓😂

Creating these birthdays has become one of my favorite traditions. I love imagining a world, filling it with tiny details, and watching Auggie (and honestly the adults too!) step right into it.

Now the real question is… What should we do for birthday #4? 🚀

“… to the world you belong.”

Some children learn language one word at a time.

Auggie learned it like a symphony.

Through songs, movie lines, joyful scripts. Through connection.

As a gestalt language processor, he has taught us that there is more than one beautiful way to find your voice.

Last month we celebrated him completing his very first Pre-K program, and what a year it has been! We’ve watched his confidence grow, his language evolve, and his world become a little bigger with every new phrase.

But the greatest gift hasn’t been watching Auggie learn from us.
It’s been watching all of us learn from him. Auggie’s taught us that…

There is more than one way to find your voice. Auggie reminds us that every person has a unique voice waiting to be discovered and that it deserves to be celebrated exactly as it is.

Progress deserves to be honored, not compared. Some victories are loud. Others are quiet. A new phrase, a moment of connection. Milestones worth celebrating. Joy grows wherever gratitude is planted.

The miracle wasn’t the words. It was what the waiting did to us. If Auggie had spoken on everyone else’s timeline, we might never have learned to notice the extraordinary hidden inside ordinary moments. The waiting made us more grateful, more present. It made us celebrate progress instead of perfection.

We’re so proud of you, buddy.
Some children learn language one word at a time. But our Auggie learns it like a symphony. And now, note by note, the world is beginning to hear the beautiful music we’ve known was there all along.

Chemo #2 + #3 The middle.

The middle is where joy lives. Finding the blanket that feels just right, choosing my “chemo couture” outfit (because when you look good, you feel good), and celebrating every step closer to healing.

Some of my favorite moments from these rounds are the small celebrations afterward, the reminders that life continues to make room for joy, even here.

Cancer has taught me: don’t wait until the end to celebrate. Celebrate the ordinary Tuesday that suddenly feels extraordinary.

Because every infusion is a victory.
Every celebration is a reminder that hope is still here.

Joy isn’t just found at the finish line. Sometimes it’s blooming right in the middle.
