The Chocolate City Experience @chocolatecityexperience x Anacostia Mural Festival @anacostiamuralsfest is a language spoken in chalk lines, classic cars, double dutching, money made and money stayed (in our community). The moment was solidified with the unveiling of a mural honoring NeeNee Taylor, one of the DMV’s most dedicated and beloved community activists.

I’m grateful to call @neeneetay a friend. Even more grateful to be trusted to visually document moments like these. Thanks @deedwyerjonts for how you show up for all of us!

Happy Birthday to the #1 cameraman, @mrgnit 🥳🥳🥳

Mr. G has been taking pics of me since “The Black Hole” when I was a teenager. For decades, he’s been capturing the memories of DC culture and nightlife like nobody else.

If you don’t have one of Mr. G’s iconic pics with that signature background… what were you even doing in the 80s/90s? REAL QUESTION🤨🤣

Help celebrate a living legend—drop a ❤️ or post your pic and tag @mrgnit!

📆 Sat. August 9, 2025

This summer has been filled with ongoing LOVE despite the circumstances in my city, Washington, D.C. I revived “The Chocolate City Experience” founded in 2019. Big love to “H Street Mainstreet” @hstnedc who’s been lovely to collaborate with for their “Second Saturdays” Pop Ups. These photos does this event no justice as I was focused on being a Creative Director/Curator. Every now and then I’d snap a few images. For more recaps follow @chocolatecityexperience

I’m grateful for all of you who’ve collaborated with me, those that expressed appreciation for “The Chocolate City Experience” and its throwback elements reminding you of “The Good Ol Days.” Some people had tears in their eyes due to the refreshing vibrations. I’m proud to say we embody the “Get home before the streetlights come on” era 🤣. Your participation and joy is what keeps us going. I’m happy to announce we have two upcoming events for “Art All Night”.

🔔Save the Date:

🤎 Friday, Sept. 12th Minnesota Ave
🤎Saturday, Sept. 13th Old Autozone H Street NE

The official promo, info + lineup will drop in the coming days. Stay tuned! Let’s close out this summer with “Big Vibes” showing the world how we get down in D.C.!!!!!!
