FATHER FIGURES ARE ESSENTIAL… EVEN TO GROWN MEN. A 12-year-old went to a youth football game and never made it home because grown men couldn’t handle a disagreement. Let that sink in. Youth sports are supposed to be about the KIDS. We’re supposed to be the example—not the danger. Sometimes a grown man needs another grown man beside him who can say, “Bro, it ain’t worth it. Family, I need you to hear this story. Her name is Tenaya Stanford. She's twenty years old, a young mother in Louisville, Kentucky. Last Tuesday she was driving down the highway with her one-year-old baby in the back seat when a man on a motorcycle started harassing her. Flipping her off, swerving at her car, spitting at her window. She tried to get away. She got off the highway, but he followed her. When she got stuck at a red light with nowhere to go, he got off his bike, broke into her car, dragged her into the street, and beat her. Pulled her by her hair. Hit her with a belt. While her baby sat right there. And dozens of cars drove past. Not one person stopped to help. Now here's the update. Police say they know exactly who he is. They've identified him. But they won't release his name, and there are no charges and no arrest. A twenty-year-old mother gets beaten in the street protecting her child, they know who did it, and he's still walking around free. That is not justice. Say her name. Tenaya Stanford. Shoutout to my guy Jonathan Bigham, @nobodyknobighamm, for putting this story on blast. He's a real street political pundit, a defender of the weak, like me, and he holds nothing back when it comes to injustice. Respect to him for staying on this. Here's the story. Candon Dean Dahle, 22 years old, former BYU baseball pitcher, sexually assaulted a little girl from the time she was 7 years old until she was 12. Five years of her childhood. At 15 she stood up in a full courtroom and told everyone what he did to her. And what did he get? The prosecution handed him a plea deal. They dropped the charges in one county, didn't even require him to register as a sex offender, and recommended probation. The judge gave him 5 to 10 years in prison, suspended every day of it, and put him on 8 years probation with 180 days in county jail and some community service.
