Part 1/2

The cool thing about powerlifting is the number of places we’ve been able to explore. If it hadn’t been for lifting, we’d never have travelled across the country or travelled certain countries.

Instead, @mac_lifts_more and I get to spend ten days between Winnipeg and Saskatoon

It’s hard not to have high expectations of yourself when the people you keep close to you excel in that same pursuit. It skews your pov a little bit of what “normal” is, but also inspires and shows what’s possible. Grateful for the community we’ve built 💗 Onwards to Sask

Kraken Recap 🐙

Came and did the thing. Secured a provincial qualifying total, placed second, added 40 kg to my total since November and PR’d all my lifts.

By all measures, this was a great day and honestly, it was. But I left this meet feeling disappointed and frustrated. There were some big goals and expectations that fell short. Going into this meet under fuelled and underweight hindered my performance and tested the mental game and resilience hard.

Playing catch up with fuel led me to a performance where I wasn’t able to show the strength built in prep and hit a total that, did get me the qt, but not one I wanted. Many lessons and experiences were gained and redemption will be the name of the game for provincials.

I couldn’t have done this challenging day without @mac_lifts_more and @hannahmaysouthwood to support and keep me calm through the mental hurdles.
Get yourself a handler-wife and coach that’ll believe in everything you do and talk you back down when you feel like you’re underwater.

To all my friends online and in person, thank you for your support and words of encouragement. It made a world of a difference to be able to put things into perspective and to help change the narrative. Grateful for all of you 💗

Some meets, things don’t go as planned. But fun was had. We change the narrative, learn from lessons provided and we move forward ➡️
