Biking around Mackinac Island was a fun experience and one of my favorite parts of the Michigan trip. Also, that water! Crazy to think that it’s actually a lake stretching endlessly before your eyes and not the ocean. Even though I’ve lived in the Land of 10,000 Lakes my whole life, it’s quite possible that I’ve spent more time at the ocean than I’ve spent at lakes. It’d be interesting to try to figure that out. I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out to be pretty close. I feel like a lot of Minnesotans spend their summer weekends up at lakefront cabins - or they live close enough to decent lakes to easily spend time there during the week - but I was never one of those Minnesotans. So (and this is almost embarrassing to admit) I was a little surprised to see that lake water could be so clear and so blue and so beautiful. I’d never been much of a lake life type of person, but if this is what the lake is like, I could get behind that. I’ve always considered myself to be an ocean girl, and still do. I can’t describe how deeply I love the ocean. There’s just something about it. But I’ve come to appreciate lakes a little better and can understand the appeal in living the whole lakeside summers thing. (not to mention driving a couple hours north is easier & cheaper than flying or driving 17+ hours to the ocean) #michigan #mi #mackinacisland #mackinac #ferry #water #waves #beach #greatlakes #lakehuron #lake #lakelife #biking #horses #lighthouse #travel #vacation #wander #wanderlust #explore #live #roadtrip
