POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A pristine, museum-tier time capsule from the golden era of Southern California underground rave history.

This is the complete promotional archive for the legendary “Happy Happy Joy Joy” mass gathering on September 27, 1997, hosted by the iconic Allstar and Rhythm Intelligence crews.

Back in the late ‘90s, street teams didn’t just hand out paper slips—they understood the assignment. As hot, exhausted, and severely dehydrated ravers filed out of warehouse venues into the blinding morning sunrise for the long drive home, promoters met them with these custom-branded, cold water bottles featuring Ren & Stimpy.

Nearly 30 years later, one of these bottles remains completely sealed, still holding its original water from 1997. 🤯 (Dare me to drink it?)

Swipe through to see the full lineup flyer featuring heavy hitters like the UK’s legendary Spiral Tribe Sound System, Matt Tangent, Steve Johnson, The Creator, and Liquid. At the bottom sit the old-school 213 and 310 voicemail info-lines that ravers had to call on the night of the event just to track down the secret desert or warehouse location coordinates.

To top it all off, we have Raver Ren himself rocking a classic smiley-face badge with a crucial public service announcement that is as timeless now as it was in the ‘90s: stay safe, drink plenty of water, and keep the vibe alive. 🕊️🕺⚡️

Who attended this event or the one in ‘99?

Apologies for my lapse in sharing. Life has been lifing. Lifing hard.

Alas, the myth. The legend. The precursor. The moment in time. The glimpse of the future.

Double Hit Mickey. Saturday, March 28, 1992.

I would not have missed this one for anything. My friends and I were so excited for this one. L.A. Style performing James Brown Is Dead? All those legends on the bill? I didn’t need my third eye to know this was going to be one of the big ones. And it was. 😮‍💨

Plus, the flyer is just *chef’s kiss*. Die-cut, double-sided, and laminated, with an embossed punch hole ready to make it into a pendant. This is one of the prizes of my collection. 🤌🏽
