Honored to work my 4th CX World Championships for Team USA, & my second time as a coach. This year’s course in Liévin was spectacular, with wide lanes and open corners inviting tactical racing, with steep technical ups, slippery downs, and spicy cambers. Heavy rains Wednesday night into Thursday saturated the track, guaranteeing some heavy pedaling. Extra low temps Friday and Saturday nights froze the deep ruts for the morning races, requiring mental agility for all riders and staff as the course steadily and inconsistently thawed thanks to low angle sunshine. Sunday even saw the course management mulching over the treacherous ruts of several fast straights to ensure rider safety.

Our Friday team relay was so inspiring and set the tone for a team-first weekend, with Scotty locking us into second after his lap, junior Aidan punching up against riders with storied careers to keep us there, and then a rock solid string of fast laps from our women— Katie, Vida, and Lidia—to put us in pole position. Henry brought us home, a first-year U23 duking it out against riders with a decade of top multidiscipline experience, sprinting us in for a nation’s best 4th place finish, just 3 seconds out of the medals and 8 seconds off the win. What a uniting opener, building belief and camaraderie within the squad before the individual events began.

If you haven’t watched the races, catch up. Some really beautiful rides came out of the weekend, with a number of career bests for our US athletes. I’m emotional all over again!

It’s an honor to get to be a part of their process, pulling out all the stops to smooth the logistics, the lines, the pressures, the tactics, and keep the environment positive. They did the hard work to get here.

CX is so special. Keep investing in this sport to keep Americans growing in cycling. Special thanks to head honcho Grant for his culture cultivation & believing in what I can add to the mix, and to fellow coach, The Curtis White, for his seamless transition from full-time athlete to all-in coach—this year’s Worlds benefitted so much from your earnest investment and acumen. What a way to cap your incredible career! 🪩✨

Wrapped up the endless 2024 season with some incredible cyclocross racing in Belgium! Stoked to have these opportunities to line up with the best in the world. The Diegem night race was the most insane race atmosphere I have ever experienced with thousands of fans, and I rode up into the 40s before a last lap mechanical. Had my best result in the u23 race at Baal, but unfortunately had to skip Koksijde after the coming down with a cold. Still finished off the block in true Belgian cyclocross conditions at the World Cup in Dendermonde.

Thanks to @cx_bearnational and @usacycling for giving me this opportunity, and @cxdtrekbikes @cyclocrosscustom and the @mudfund for the support, this Kerstperiode trip would not have been possible without the support of so many people.

Update from the Kerstperiode! The races have been chaotic in the middle of the best fields in the world, but the crowds are insane and the stoke is high. Had some good rides in Mol and Loenhout, and happy to finish in the top 50 of my first elite cyclocross world cup in Gavere.

Huge thanks to the whole @cxdtrekbikes team for taking me in and @cyclocrosscustom for the support at the races. Excited to race at Diegem, Baal, Koksjide, and Dendermonde next week to finish off the season!
