A short on why social fabric is so important to environmentalists who want to see collective action increase in our communities. #climate #community #action

Most people worry about the planet but feel as individuals we can't do anything about it, as we wait for endless international agreements from above. Sure those are important ... but there is a LOT we can do to make our communities #safer right now.

Thanks to @mrmattgolding for joining us for a breakfast webinar and conversation last month. Check our real examples of communities taking matters into their own hands at @antidotelive

As environmentalists are we pushing people to go green in individualistic ways and therefore adding to the isolation and social atrophy crisis? Or are we enabling collaborative problem-solving and thereby nurturing the social fabric that is needed for more fundamental change? It's the latter that's needed, it's what we want to do at The Miracle Inn.

Quote from "The Living Green Myth" by Michael Maniates.

From ghost nets and ocean plastics to gorgeous.

Our new granulator is up and running, and these are the very first test recycled ocean plastic sheets using this finer recyclate.

By processing recovered fishing nets and ropes , plus harder plastics into a finer, more consistent granulate, we’re creating denser, stronger, higher-quality recycled plastic sheets with incredible colours and finishes.

Every sheet starts its life as ocean waste collected from our coastlines. Now it’s becoming a material with endless possibilities.

This is what circular design looks like.

Waste isn’t the end of the story. It’s the beginning of something beautiful.

Futures in Draft is a collaborative project that centers learning through listening, and that’s why it’s shaped by the ideas and experiences of those already working in and curious about the work of alternative futures.

This work has included collaborating with an advisory group of nine cultural practitioners working on alternative futures projects across the UK.

The group has been integral to shaping the project and guiding the content and intention of Futures in Draft.

Take a minute to meet them at the link in bio!

Do you choose to accept the current politics of inevitability, or do you choose to love humanity, and act on that love?

Honestly, I do believe it’s that simple... and that enormous. And I’m extremely proud to be supporting @mrmattgolding @maryampasha and Jess Lyne de Ver with their brilliant @antidotelive podcast SCREW THIS... LET’S TRY SOMETHING ELSE, telling the stories of communities all over the UK which have very firmly chosen love, in some of the most difficult contexts.

This is not a time for cynicism. It’s a time to get involved.

Clip below is from episode 2, which sees Matt and Maryam meet the team from a Troubles-era garrison town in Northern Ireland who started with nothing, and are now serious players in transforming the UK food system. This stuff is REAL.

Go listen to the podcast people. This is life changing stuff.

📣 BIG NEWS; The Open Letter is in !

This week, representatives from Business Leaders for Peace delivered the signed open letter - now backed by over 1,200 UK business leaders - to Number 10 Downing Street, calling for an end to the UK’s complicity in genocide.

It took a while to navigate the necessary steps (and approximately 500 emails to MPs thanks to Sam Baker), but your words are now with the UK Government.

Huge thanks to @carladenyer MP for attending the hand-in, and to signatories Adam Garfunkel, founder junxionStrategy, and Louise Kjellerup Roper, CEO Volans) for standing alongside us.

“It was an honour to join business leaders from across the UK to hand in a letter to the government demanding stronger action against the Israeli government’s atrocities in Gaza. Our government has a responsibility to act to secure justice and a lasting and sustainable peace – starting with basic measures like a full arms embargo and sanctions against those responsible for war crimes.”
— Carla Denyer MP

We wanted to acknowledge the complexity we’re all facing here; the hand-in comes as the Trump Peace Plan faces mounting concern for excluding Palestinian voices, the ceasefire continues to be violated, and aid remains blocked.

let’s take a pause to acknowledge this moment. We’d like to extend a HUGE THANK YOU to all signatories.

This 👏🏽 is 👏🏽 your 👏🏽 hand-in 👏🏽 .

And of course all the individuals and small businesses who gave their time, energy and resources to make it all possible : whether freebies, reduced rates or pro-bono hours, assets.. you all helped us get further faster. Sam Narr and Alex Brzezicka @kibbokiftagency , Bethany Crowe, @matt.hocking and Simon @madebyleap and so many more I don’t handles for.
