“A DJ is in dialogue with the people in the dance floor. Both roles require presence, intuition, storytelling - the ability to create moments that bring people together into a shared experience.” Yeshi, Vogue Femme Dancer, start of DJing journey. Open Floor #1 participant. 🪩Open Floor #1, held at the brilliant and supportive @aajamusic was an intimate gathering of generous artists - Dancers/DJs/MCs - all curious, all playful. What unfolded was a brilliant cross pollination of skill sets and self discovery. 🪩OPEN FLOOR is a space to expand your skills as a DJ, practise embodied listening, try new things in a low stakes environment with instant feedback (the dance floor). It’s also how we meet artists as we expand our capacity for THE/SET, our immersive DJ+ Dancer format. THE/SET is commissioned by clients and works to a brief. Learn more about THE/SET via link in our bio🎧🪩🎧 OPEN FLOOR is a practise ground for the dance floor - just as you would practise and train as a dancer, or musician. With feedback 🔟🔟🔟 for the room feeling a safe space to play and explore, we are PUMPED to be rolling out OPEN FLOOR #2 - the next one taking place w/c 20th July. SIGN UP link is live - DATE TBC. So, if you are a DJ who dances, a dancer who DJs, or you’re a dancer curious about DJing, we’d love to hear from you 🪩🪩🪩

“I have been occupied about the state of our collective living, worldwide. The disruption of peace. We are in a moment of messiness. We are in a moment in which, there are very sacred things that are being disrespected” - María Magdalena Campos-Pons, London 2025 Photography: Eloïse King

I recently had the honour of intimately observing artist, Maria Magdalena Campos-Pons, as she prepared a special performance: I AM SOIL. MY TEARS ARE WATER to mark @tate Modern’s 25th anniversary, in collaboration with Musician, @kamaalmalak and a group of artists. The Afro-Cuban artist’s spiritual and conceptual work has, for more than three decades, woven ritual, Yoruba Santeria, music, movement, and storytelling into a meditation on radical love, justice - across photography, painting, sculpture, film, video, and performance - where silenced histories speak and resilience takes root, offering a poetic and compassionate reimagining of our shared past and present.
