Many years later, @pancake.in.april was walking through the park with his wife and he saw a Cherry Blossom tree. He felt an inexplicable urge to go stand under it. So he called to his daughter playing on the bridge.

"Kaori! Come see this tree!"

Kaori bounded over with great excitement, trying to catch the falling petals and sweeping up those on the floor into a pile so she could jump into it as her parents looked on.

His wife looked up and saw her husband tear up. "Are you okay, sweetie?"

Pancake blinked the tears away. "Yeah ... Yeah I am. You?"

Pancake's wife rubbed her growing belly. "Little Kosei is getting hungry. Wanna go get some caneles?"

Pancake smiled and nodded.

"Kaori!! Would you like some caneles?"

"Yes, Daddy!!!!", screamed Kaori in excitement as she bound out from under a pile of cherry blossom petals.

Pancake watched his wife and daughter walk off and suddenly he realized, it was April. Pancake smiled.

"I can still hear you," he whispered almost inaudibly before catching up to his family.

An original London cast recording of YOUR LIE IN APRIL – THE MUSICAL has been announced.

The YOUR LIE IN APRIL – THE MUSICAL Original London Cast Recording is being released by Ghostlight Records on 4th April 2025.

The West End production starred Zheng Xi Yong as Kōsei Arima, Rachel Clare Chan as Tsubaki Sawabe and Dean John-Wilson as Ryōta Watari, with Mia Kobayashi making her professional debut as Kaori Miyazono.

Also starring Ericka Posadas, Ernest Stroud, Lucy Park, Gracie Lai, Eu Jin Hwang, JoJo Meredith, Chris Fung, Imogen Law Hing Choi, Ria Tanaka, Daniel Nardone, Mairi Ikegami and Kevin Tristan.

Following his mother’s death, teenage piano prodigy Kōsei Arima finds himself unable to play music. But when he strikes a friendship with the brilliant violinist Kaori Miyazono, she slowly encourages him to perform again.

YOUR LIE IN APRIL – THE MUSICAL was directed & choreographed by Nick Winston, co-directed by Jordan Murphy, featuring musical supervision by Katy Richardson, musical direction & conducted by Chris Poon, set design by Justin Williams, costume design by Kimie Nakano, sound design by Rob Bettle for Sound Quiet Time and Adam Fisher, lighting design by Rory Beaton, video design by Dan Light, orchestral management by Rich Morris for Music Solutions Ltd, production management by Toby P Darvill and casting director Harry Blumenau CDG CDA.

YOUR LIE IN APRIL – THE MUSICAL has music by multi-Grammy, Tony, and Emmy Award nominated Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn, with lyrics by Carly Robyn Green and Tracy Miller.

"Those who write their names in the history books must face it will unrelenting courage."

It is with great sadness that we announce the early closure of @yourliemusical on Sunday 11th August 2024.

But history has been made. We are the first commercial musical on the West End to feature an entirely East and Southeast Asian cast. A path has been cleared for others to follow. And they will.

But what I will remember most are not the photoshopped headshots from the cast announcement, but the faces and the spirits of these human beings behind this moment of history whom I have come to know and love, who continue to give every ounce of their spirit to the telling of this story. It is inspiring. The future is in good hands, and I am glad I was here to watch them lay a foundation stone into the wall.

The courage, kindness, generosity and talent shown today by Momo and Daniel throughout 'In The Round' has been nothing short of inspiring. They made working with them so easy and we got through SO much. I can't wait to see what magic they conjure up in our 2nd workshop on the 18th of May.

Your lie in April is now my favourite musical ever, every actor and actress was amazing and I want them to put all the songs on Spotify so I can listen to them on repeat. I loved all of it and would recommend it to everyone, I want to go again and @matpatgt QA was amazing. 🤩 ❤️ 20 people tag limit. Three I missed out of deamjohnwilson, ilawhingchoy and pancake.in.april 🫶🏻 Hope I didn’t miss trying to tag the cast, hope all bace an amazing career and future.

Goodbye, Kōsei Arima. You were the dream role I didn’t realise I had been dreaming of for so long. To get to play a male lead in the West End is already extremely rare for people who look like me. But one in which I get to act, sing, dance, and play the piano, while also being complex and sincere, feels like it’s only been possible because the stars have aligned. Or rather, because of all the wonderful people who have created this show and trusted in me to give me this golden opportunity. I thank you.

This company has made history as the first full East and South East Asian (ESEA) musical cast in the West End, and I’m so grateful to the entire company for their generosity throughout this process. Their talent, passion, and kindness know no bounds, and anything I’m able to do has only been possible through them. Thank you for being amazing at what you do. I’ll miss you all dearly.

Lastly, thank you also to every single person who’s been part of the show’s journey, on or off stage, in the audience, as well as my family, friends, agents, coaches, and teachers! I wouldn’t be here without you.

To end, here’s my favourite lyric that gets me every time: “If I had lifted up my eyes, I would have seen the sun will rise, and when it falls a new day has to come”.

I actually cannot put into words how happy I am to have met these people and to have done this beautiful show 🌸 I came into the very first day of rehearsals super nervous, having no idea what to expect and whether I would be able to reach what they expected of me. As soon as I met the YLIA Company, I felt so much calmer ❤️ They welcomed me into this show, teaching me so much about everything, and I will never forget anything that they did ☺️ I am so incredibly grateful that I got to be a part of this show - it has the most special place in my heart and I will treasure the memories that I have made forever ❤️
Though my heart is breaking at our early close, I will forever look back at this show with the biggest smile on my face 😁 I have made friends for life and I love each and every single person so much ❤️
I don’t know what else to write because words cannot comprehend how much this show has changed my life and how it has helped to heal my heart ❤️
