The Phantom Menace 😈⚔️✨

Star Wars Episode 1 tie in, released on the PS1 in the summer of '99 🌞

Featuring one of the greatest songs and lightsaber battles of the saga 🔥

Not a great game IMO, neither is the condition of the case, but a nostalgic piece nonetheless.
I don't think I ever got past the first level back in the day 😬
But I had 20 minutes spare in the retro loft this weekend ...and still failed to get past the first level 🤣

🗨️Anybody else have this one⁉️

DIDDY KONG RACING 🐒⭐🏁🎈🍌

Take me back to 1998, big old TV on my bedroom floor, sitting in my inflatable blue chair wearing my looney tunes pyjamas and playing this game for hours on end 🥰

Mario Kart 64 was an incredible game, drenched in nostalgia and undoubtedly iconic ... But I agree with @vivalahazygames, Diddy Kong Racing was the better game ✌️
🗨️ Anyone else agree ⁉️

Admittedly the characters aren't as interesting as the Mario Kart ensemble, and the weapons are a bit straightforward, BUT I love how you not only race in go-karts but also with hovercraft and planes. Each handle in very different ways and most tracks will let you choose which of the three to use, giving different elements and tactics to the same courses 🏎️🚤🛩️

The real heart of this game is the Adventure mode. Diddy, Conker, Banjo (or whichever character you choose) rock up on an island of paradise, and with a little guidance from a genie elephant, you race your way through different worlds, collecting enough balloons to progress and unlock the boss races. 🔮🐘🎈

In the prehistoric/volcanic world you have to race a triceratops to the top of a spiralling mountain, over in the snowy world you race a walrus down an icy mountain, in the ocean/beach world you race a giant octopus around a cove avoiding it's bubbles. After collecting all the balloons in the last world, which has a medieval theme the final, notorious race is against the evil pig wizard, appropriately named Wizpig 🦕🦭🐙🐷

There are some cool gameplay variations as you go, which keep it from becoming repetitive, such as a battle in each world and after beating each boss once you have to race on the tracks a second time but while doing so collect 8 coins as well as winning 🔫🏅

Back in the day I remember thinking how realistic the graphics looked, with that proper 90s beach theme in particular. The music is also great, the ones that stick in mind are the snowy tracks with the real Christmassy vibes.
After all these years it's a game I can still pick up and want to play all the way through 🤩

PIXAR LEGO 💡⭐🎬📽️

A massive fan of the Pixar films ever since I first saw Woody and Buzz in the cinema as a kid in 1995, so I was very pleased to unwrap this Christmas present from my mother and father in law ☁️🩵

Luxo Sr. was around a while before I first set eyes on Andy's room and Pizza Planet and before it became the iconic mascot it is today. In 1986 Luxo Sr. and Luxo Jr. appeared in their own short film which showcased the studio's revolutionary CGI and gave a glimpse of what was to come with the personification, humour and emotions coming from inanimate objects...

My wife and I built this Luxo Jr. set together last night and it was pretty straightforward, but fun nonetheless. The coolest part being all of the hidden Easter eggs inside 🔍

🗨️ Can you guess them all from the pictures ⁉️

(Spoilers...)
2- Woody and Buzz from Toy Story.
3- Sully and Mike Wazowski from Monsters Inc.
4- Linguini and Remi from Ratatouille.
5- Carl and Russell from Up.
6- The family from The Incredibles.
7- Frozone, Edna, Syndrome and Jack Jack, also from The Incredibles
9- The big blocks I believe are Marlin, Dory, The Good Dinosaur and Red,
Lightning McQueen and Mater from Cars at the bottom,
Atta and Flik from A Bug's Life on the left,
Joy and Sadness from Inside Out in the right,
Miguel from Coco at the top.
11- The legendary Pizza Planet truck features in all their films.

Like the truck, the Pixar Ball is also hidden in all of the films, although I'd only seen half of them myself before seeing reels highlighting them all. In terms of the Lego I love the ball, not just for including all those Easter eggs, but it has a real weight and quality to the build. I personally prefer seeing it sat next to the lamp rather than squashed under it.

If anybody has made it to the end of the pictures you'll see that I (and my son) were extremely lucky on the Lego front this Christmas and if you made it to the end of this essay, please check out the awesome accounts tagged and share some love 🏷️
