We adore ‘The Way of Birds’, a striking film that thoughtfully explores Afrocentric concepts while expanding the global conversation around the African continent. Commissioned by Atmos (@atmos) in collaboration with Lagos-based photographer and director Daniel Obasi (@iamdanielobasi), the film offers a dreamlike celebration of Calabar’s iconic carnival; capturing both its vibrancy and cultural depth.
.
‘’The Way of the Birds,” is a whimsical story inspired by the beauty of carnival culture and the freedom and power that carnival performers exude—adorned in flamboyant costumes, vibrant body paint, and ethereal wings’’, the artist tells Atmos.

These were taken two years ago.
I’m sharing them today because this conversation keeps coming back to our bodies.
FGM is often discussed loudly, argued over, defended, denied.

But for girls, it is felt quietly; in the body, in memory, in what is taken without asking.
This isn’t about winning an argument.
It’s about choosing girls.

And choosing that the harm stops here.

Patterns of Hope: The Gambia, our new global series spotlighting the survivors and activists of Female Genital Mutilation and their stories.

Pleased to share our portraits and interview featuring Fatima Gomez. It was an honor to share space with Fatima and learn about a practice that is deeply traumatic.

51% of young girls under the age of 14 are at risk of FGM in The Gambia. Fatima Gomez is fighting back through law school, advocacy, and solidarity with survivors. Gomez discusses joining the justice system, defending bodily autonomy, and how sisterhood is dismantling centuries of harm—one girl at a time.

The mission we embarked on as a team with UNFPA The Gambia was very deep and detailed, please take time to learn more about Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), the implications and why using our platforms is essential to joining this mission towards Zero Tolerance.

One day, the queen was feeling particularly troubled by the issues facing her kingdom. She decided to seek the jester’s company, hoping that his humor could lighten her mood. As she sat with him, Jax performed his usual tricks, juggling and dancing, but he also began to tell stories that reflected the struggles of the people.

My solo exhibition called BLOOM and it was inspired through self love, nudity & exotic flowers it aims to celebrate femininity in all its raw unfiltered power. The goal was to highlight a wide range of female archetypes by embracing both imperfections and extraordinary traits

A real massive shout out to all the beautiful and amazing women that helped me put this together from start to finish
