Been awhile since I posted a workout with @mrpt_wshields. Lots of lower body this week with a focus on technique and form. This summer we are amping up the weights and doubling down on mobility and nutrition.

As the weather gets warmer I start amping up my workouts. Coach @mrpt_wshields has started adding more exercises to help my knees. I’ve never had joint issues but we are doing lots of preventative work that also includes foam rolling and isolation exercises. I’m also getting outside a lot with my dog to get in my steps aiming for 12k steps a day. What’s your routine looking like for the spring/summer?

Happy Saturday! I hope you will take the time to do something for yourself. I love starting the weekend off with a good workout. I typically work out in my own on Saturdays but sneaked in a session with @mrpt_wshields.

Do you work out on the weekends? What do you do?

If it’s Tuesday you will find me working out with @mrpt_wshields After a good warm up that included foam rolling (a must) we got in a series of deadlifts and dead bugs. We are putting that work in.

This year I leveled up on my fitness thanks to @mrpt_wshields. It’s not always fun but definitely worth it.

Another day another workout. I’ve been focusing on consistency. I’m down 29LBS and counting. NGL there are days when I’m not feeling it but thank goodness for my coach @mrpt_wshields who always challenges me. We switch up our workouts frequently. There are exercises that I think are going to be easy that kick my butt like these bands that work my hamstrings in this reel. Also a bonus are the really cool folks at @crossfit_amplitude. I’ve always been a bit of a gym rat so I appreciate working out in a place where everyone is serious about fitness. The owner Sebastian makes everyone feel welcome and all the athletes there are friendly and encouraging. Wherever you are, keep going!

Whew. We coming alll the way back. Let’s go. @mrpt_wshields kicking my a** with these battle ropes. These were followed by hill sprints and 15lb ball slams. The process can look grimy but the results are with it. Wherever you are, just go for it. Don’t worry about how slow or fast you go. One step at a time. Easy does it.

Tuesdays & Thursdays I’m at Amplify Fitness working on strength, flexibility and mobility. It’s been a long road back but I’m down 27lbs and counting over about 9 months. Thanks to @mrpt_wshields for continuing to challenge me and putting up with my occasional bad attitude 🤓.

I’m not a morning person but I’ve learned that if I don’t get my training sessions in first thing in the morning they don’t happen. My early AM workout hack is to put my clothes out and my gym bag in the car the night before. I also go to bed REALLY early, no later than 9:30. Next morning I literally just roll out of bed, get dressed and drive to the gym. I’m always happy at the end of a grimy workout. Thanks @mrpt_wshields !

After a two week hiatus I’m back at it with @mrpt_wshields. Truth be told, I’m not naturally a morning person but I find if I don’t work out first thing in the morning, it’s too easy to let the day get the best of me. Especially as a working mom, every day you have to do something for yourself first.
