TRANSPARENCY POST**

Every Father’s Day since 2017 has been complicated for me.

When I found out I was having a son, I changed my whole life. I was focused, disciplined, locked in ready to become the father I always wanted to be.

He was supposed to be born in December right around my birthday, my Pop’s, and my Grandfather’s. It felt like legacy was lining up.

But GOD had other plans.

My son came 4 months early August 6. I held him, prayed over him, watched him fight in the NICU. And then on September 9… he passed.

That broke me.

Losing him shifted everything. But it also awakened something in me purpose. A deeper understanding of manhood. A fire to lead, to love, and to grow.

And truthfully, I wouldn’t be who I am today without my father.

My Pops had me the day after his 17th birthday. And to this day, he says I saved his life. But honestly… he saved mine.

The streets were right there, calling like they do for so many young Black boys. But because I had a father who was present, who gave me structure, who led with discipline. I made it out.

He didn’t get to chase his dreams. He didn’t go to college. He became a man early, put everything down, and sacrificed his life to provide for us.

I go hard now to make sure those sacrifices weren’t in vain.

We didn’t have it all figured out. But he gave me enough, enough to believe I could become more. And now I’m doing everything I can to build something that honors his name and my son’s legacy.

I post this for the men feeling all the emotions today the gratitude, the grief, the pain, the pride.

I honor my father. I honor my son. And I honor the man I’m still becoming.

To every man rewriting the story: you’re not alone.
