I flew 20 hours from San Diego to Shenzhen for one reason: to find the right factory. A lot of people think getting a product made starts with a Google search or an Alibaba listing. In my experience it starts much earlier, with someone on the ground who knows which factories are worth visiting. That’s Mert, our sourcing agent here in Shenzhen. Before Canton Fair even started, we sat down and mapped out which suppliers to see in person, so the fair isn’t just walking aisles hoping something clicks. Over the next few days I’ll share what this process actually looks like: how to find a factory for your product, the red flags I watch for, and some of the food and tech I’m finding along the way. Felix's kidneys shut down yesterday Aug 31 2021 around 7 am. We had to put him to sleep at 10:45 am to end his suffering. He's peacefully gone to heaven in my arms. We had no idea that chronic kidney disease could progress so quietly and quick. As you know, Felix has always been a very "tranquil" boy that didn't like being vocal. We are beyond devastated. Felix was born on May 19 2014 in Shenzhen China. The owner of his mother was a great friend of mine. Felix has been the GREATEST GIFT that I've ever received in my life. I've received the first phone call when he was born, and been the first to take him home after he's spent three months with his litter. I have had the best time while studying abroad because of his presence in my life. He's been my reason to stay, resist all my struggles and finish my school. I've travelled many times to visit family in Near East and Canada. Felix being in China and waiting for me has always excited me to go and see him. He was the first born in his litter, and always been a small skinny cat until we arrived to Canada in 2018 October. He did not enjoy eating much most his life. I believe the change of climate and place after the 14hr50 min flight from Hong Kong to Toronto tired him out a lot. He has changed a couple habits, he became more attached to us and demanded more food and cuddles. He's been a very close family member of ours. Whenever we received a phone call from family or friends, we've always been asked how he's doing. He's had the bestest, gentlest and friendliest spirit that hasn't upset anybody his whole life. Anyone could pick him up. He wouldn't hiss easily. He didn't like children for some reason and go hide when there were kids around, that was his only "dislike". We are finding it very difficult to cope with. Our house is very quiet, we've been looking for him everywhere. It doesn't matter to leave the interior doors and toilet lids shut anymore. There's no Felix to scratch doors to be let in or drink water from the toilet. There are so many great memories about him. He has always been a star! ⭐️ BFF and much more.
