POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Celebrated Isadore’s 9th birthday by going fishing with a bunch of his pals. You could see your breath and it rained and the tangling lines and lures in the tree and hooking the bottom and the dead pike on the bottom was the only fish we saw. I meant to say, “everyone come have some watermelon!” But I accidentally said, “everyone come have some marshmallows!” They shouted with ecstasy and sprinted for the food cache. No marshmallows to be had. What a let down!! If my heart wasn’t so pure I’d say it was a pretty killer dirty trick! The kids were awesome and stuck with it and had fun until their hands ached from the cold. So we packed up and headed home and caught Nintendo fish and feasted on Kraft Dinner with wieners. His friends are so cool and kind and funny. Big thanks for the assist by a couple chauffeur/fishing guide/dads who came along and weren’t a bit bothered about the gaps in my “plan.” Banger of a birthday party!

We just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who came out to our Conversations That Shift event in November, where we focused on Men’s Mental Health. There was so much thoughtful and meaningful discussion, and we truly appreciated everyone who took part.

A couple of key takeaways from the evening included using the acronym RULER—Recognize, Understand, Label, Express, Regulate—as a way to begin practising emotional expression. Another important point raised was that anger is often seen as the “safest” emotion for men. This leaves us with an important question: how can we better support men in expressing a wider range of emotions?

Keep an eye out for more events coming in the New Year! And a big thank-you to Troubled Monk for supporting us and providing the space for this event.

5 Christmas parties and a birthday and all the bits and pieces of real life over the last week or two. I was starting to question my candle burning ways. But then!!! Just as I teetered on the precipice of early bedtimes and herbal tea and saying “no” every now and then….I was paid a visit by the angel of givin’er. He talked me through my doubts and my weaknesses and reminded me what it means to stay the course and to truly unlock the benefits of full pedal to the metal commitment. You must quiet the negative voices. And you must giver. Yes I will, I shouted to the mountain tops and across the prairies! Yes I will! Thank you Terry, my angel in a mackinaw jacket. Also, friends and family, please don’t invite me to anything for a week or so. For if you do, I will giver. And Terry reminded me that giviner also applies to parenting and prostate health and being there for your people. It’s complicated. But think I get the assignment. In this case: ya giver aaaand don’t be afraid to meet your heroes.

Tonight was a night! It humbles me to see the men who showed up and were invested in the conversation. Thank you to @socialshiftwellness, @jondavies_47, @mrtetz & @codikreil for being a part of tonight. You are lovely humans. xoxo

10 YEARS!! It’s kinda crazy to think about all the boxes we unpacked, shoes laced, boards gripped and hoodies we’ve folded.. From the bottom of our hearts thank you for the support❤️. Our friend @mark_kowalchuk created this graphic for us to sum up the last 10 years of events, gatherings and moments to be remembered and we are blown away with how awesome it came out 🤯🙌
Over the next few days we will be sharing some throwback posts and stories that brought us to where we are now. This graphic is very limited and once they are gone… they’re gone. $80 ea. *comes with a poster*
