20 years! Blinking flip.

In 2006, Twitter was launched, Blair announced he was stepping down, Lordi won Eurovision, Pluto was demoted to a dwarf planet, and I planted my first vineyard at the foot of the South Downs at Our Lady of England Priory in Storrington, West Sussex. Quite a bit has happened since, eh?

So last Thursday we kicked off harvest first thing, beating our previous earliest picking date by 12 days, pressed the first of the 2026 grapes in the afternoon (take note: the ripest, cleanest fruit I can remember), and downed tools to gather old, fine friends and some of the baddest bunch in wine to raise a glass to 20 years of Sugrue.

Officially, it was to launch a special 20th anniversary bottling of The Trouble With Dreams 2020 in magnum – an offer is going out to subscribers next week – but it was also a good excuse to drink some favourites from our increasingly bare library stocks.

Hard miles and good days behind, and hard miles and good days ahead.
