A huge, heartfelt thank you to the incredible volunteers who make our TIFF Brunch possible year after year. ❤️

Your hard work, generosity, flexibility, and can-do attitudes keep everything moving — often behind the scenes, always with so much care.

No Firecracker event happens without people showing up, jumping in, solving problems, lending a hand, and doing whatever needs to be done. We are endlessly grateful for the time and energy you give to this community.

Thank you for helping us bring the Firecracker TIFF Brunch to life. We truly couldn’t do it without you. ❤️‍🔥 Let's do it again next year!

Please join me in thanking this amazing team in the comments!

IT’S BEEN ONE YEAR AND 5 DAYS SINCE I QUIT MY JOB.

A bit over a year ago I gave my resignation while at a coffee shop in Paris. It was not as scary as it should have been. I knew it was time. And in the last year I learned and achieved so SO much. Here’s a recap of some of those things. I immediately thought of more after I finished editing this so there will be a part 2.

Thank you thank you thank you. I don’t think I will be able to fully list all the humans but I will try! Cause this year wouldn’t have been possible without y’all.

Last night ✨ Jacob Sampson and writer, poet and educator Sylvia Hamilton had the pleasure of witnessing Walter Borden receiving the Living Legend Award at the International Black Theatre Festival in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
They were able to connect with friends and fellow Canadians from The Black Pledge and Arbez Drama Projects.
With support from the province of Nova Scotia, Jacob, Walter, and Sylvia are there to connect with vast Black art networks around the United States and the world. Jacob will talk about 2b’s upcoming premiere of ‘Metamorphoses’ starring Mr. Borden this fall at Prismatic Festival, and both artists will help spread the word that Nova Scotia is a Black arts and culture powerhouse.

What an incredible night celebrating the 15th Annual Cayle Chernin Awards.

We are so grateful to everyone who joined us to honour this year’s finalists and recipients, and to celebrate the artists, stories, and community that continue to shape the Cayle Awards.

Thank you to our attendees, presenters, and everyone who contributed their time, energy, and care to make the evening such a success. A special thank you to our sponsors and supporters whose generosity makes this work possible.

And of course, congratulations again to all of our finalists and this year’s recipients! Your voices and stories are what this community is built on.

Here’s to 15 years of impact, and many more to come.
