Senior night was so special. We got a win over CCA, I saw so many of my favorite people, I got to meet lots of my students moms (the best!) and I got to hug so many of my favorite (smelly) seniors 😅 I was especially honored to wear #74, shared with me from a fav student athlete for senior night. Love this group of seniors so, so much ❤️🖤

✨Homecoming✨

Our theme this year was Rio, and my fav dress up day consisted of everybody dressing like colorful feathered birds.

We won our Friday night football game, visited with returning students, danced all night long on Saturday, took a thousand pics at the Photo Booth, and crashed allll day long on Sunday.

These festivities and celebrations have almost NOTHING to do with teaching, but EVERYTHING to do with connection and culture, and it’s my favorite, favorite, favorite part.

My absolute favorite part of being a teacher isn’t really teaching at all. 😅 It’s the joy of keeping up with so many of these wonderful humans, long after they’ve graduated high school.
When a child is required to spend part of their day with you during the most ridiculous seasons of adolescence, and then they CHOOSE to continue to include you in the adult version of their life?! Ugh, just the freaking best. This year has been particularly good for my heart. 💗💗💗My favorite and best little angel babies forever. 🫶🏽

First day for me and the bros! Ezra was a champ, now that he’s in my 8th grade side of the building. Every time I saw him I yelled out, “Hi Ezra!! Need hugs?!” 😂 At the end of the day he thanked me for being a “nice and fun teacher” because I have a LOT of his friends in my homeroom and they all had good things to say about our day. ☺️ He played his first football game as an 8th grader in Indianola tonight. He got in 2 solid quarters before the freezing wind and rain got us a cancellation. (My umbrella was wrapped around me like a sleeping bag) I’ve never prayed so hard for lightning. 😩😂

Annabelle woke up at 5am for a morning shift at Bridgehouse, before going to two virtual college classes and an appt at the DMV, but still squeezed in a surprise visit to drop coffee off to her tired mama.

I attempted a face mask/face shield combo all day which left me sweaty and fogged up by 7:45am. So darn happy to see my kids though.

Julian drove me to work at 6:45, in the rain, and as he ran in to Casey’s (in the downpour!) to get me ice, I remembered I hadn’t gotten first day pics in my rush. I snapped this blurriness as a joke. We are going to call it his first day pic, and try again tomorrow. ♥️

Day 1: a rocky success.

Season’s over, but the memories will stick. Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”. #football #0
