Last week, Morningside hosted the Palmer Student Research Symposium and Maud Adams Nursing Research Day. This campus wide celebration of student research includes oral presentations, poster demonstrations, and panel discussions. It welcomes alumni, community members, faculty, and staff to learn about our students’ passion and their dedication to intellectual growth.
In this first photo, our nursing alumni of the year winner, Amos Schonrock ’07, was joined by our nursing faculty and two alumni from the class of 1980, Lynn Dykstra and Jeanne Schwab. The other group photo is of our MSN and DNP students that presented their EBP research projects at the symposium.
It’s truly wonderful to witness students engaging with their peers, alumni, and faculty members about what they have learned and want to pursue. It’s also a great visualization of the commitment Morningside places on experience and scholarly research. #ExperienceMatters #MsideProud

Sarah Severes, BSN, RN, graduated from Morningside University in 2023. Her great grandmother was a student here in the 20s, her grandfather graduated in ‘54 and her grandmother, Marge(pictured above), would have graduated in 1960. Following her passing, their family wanted to make a donation encouraging future nurses to continue the legacy and a fuel them through their finals. Thank you for your generosity and your family’s belief in our institution!

While students may have a day off from classes, they have plenty of programs and opportunities to keep them busy! This morning, Brian Duncanson ‘97 of Sanford Health, spoke to our nursing students about strategies to set yourself apart when applying for positions. Then the students were invited to network and talk with a variety of employers throughout the region about their opportunities. #ExperienceMatters

Today our school of nursing held a professional development day where they broke into groups to learn about study strategies and mindfulness. In addition to this skill development, they hosted an in person and virtual career fair where we welcomed 15 area healthcare providers. #ExperienceMatters

Yesterday our junior and senior nursing students got to engage with 14 regional healthcare companies to learn about their opportunities for part-time work as they finish their degree in full-time employment for after!

On Tuesday we celebrated and appreciated our faculty for their hard work and dedication! We love hosting this tradition and seeing some friendly competition. 😉
