The 5k/11k/Kids Races all run along Dockweiler State Beach and support @evelyns_bff, an all volunteer organization that helps women with reconstruction and counseling after Breast Cancer. 💕

We will have a booth with changing rooms where you can get yourself a new bra before or after the race, and even some little items to decorate your bra if you didn’t have a chance! 🎀📿We will be donating 10% of all sales to the organization.

Apparently today is International #friendshipday , which means it’s a good day to scroll through memory lane!
.
No surprise that most of my best friends are those who I’ve met through running or those whose best idea of fun is anything on the move and out in nature!
.
So grateful for the many memories shared on roads, on trails, in races, in costumes, with strollers, and with post-run beers with these people.🤗
.
As beautiful a place as LA is, and with all the things to do here, I was pretty sad and lonely the first several years here. I had “friends” to go out with and people I knew through work, but no meaningful connections or people I could trust.
.
It wasn’t until I got involved with the running community that my network of good people who “got me” began to grow, and I began to fall in love with this place and grow roots.
.
Obviously, people gravitate towards others with similar interests, and those common interests are binding as glue. But I also truly believe that runners are just a different breed (a little good-different, a little weird-different😉). When social time means routinely pushing our bodies to the limits, supporting each other in these endeavors, enjoying exhilaration and enduring pain, the memories are vivid and the bonds strong (and the convos often TMI😜).
.
I’m grateful for all my friends of course, but an extra shout out to all of you amazing runners in my life!🏃‍♀️💨🏃‍♂️💨
