On 8 June, I collapsed on the floor at Mum’s after eating a burger. It happened several times that week, then severe stomach pain followed. I was admitted to hospital for 22 days.

Tests showed my stomach was severely inflamed — one result was 13 times the normal level. I struggled to eat or drink and lost 25kg. On 3 and 6 July, my body went into hypertension, which I overcame. I was discharged on medication for eight symptoms, but the pain and discomfort continued.

On 25 July, it suddenly reached 10/10 across my whole body. Nothing helped, not even morphine, and A&E said they couldn’t do anything. I was due to see a specialist on 31 July, but I couldn’t sleep and the tablets weren’t working. I wasn’t eating or drinking, had no energy, and truly thought I might not make it. I even started putting my affairs in order to make sure Mum would be okay.

On 29 July, I finally told a group of friends and family what was happening — hard for someone who usually deals with things alone. What they did next was a God-send: they took turns staying with me 24/7, encouraged me and carried me through those three days until I saw the specialist. The medication they prescribed brought my pain from a 10 down to a 3.

Paris tu me dois 250 € !!! Apparemment la porte en France (et Europe) ferme automatiquement quand tu sors. La vache!!!! J’ai laissé la clé dans le bouton parce que c’est la seule chose qui assure que la porte reste ouverte en Afrique. Et oui, la porte a claqué quand je suis sortie de l’Airbnb avec mes lourdes valises🙂. Avec la clé à l’intérieur🫠

Bruhh the crash out was epic. And I had to do it in a different language 😭 I was locked out in the cold for 5 hours. The locksmith was so professional about it despite working for close to 3 hours. He tried everything tool in his arsenal and succeeded. He kept whispering words of affirmation to himself because this job was one of his toughest. I will never forget this day in my life😭

It’s still December, so yes I’m still celebrating my birthday lol. But let me share a little story about this beautiful night.

I had planned to travel for my birthday, but when that fell through, my friends quietly stepped in behind my back. Months of planning, meetings, venue, food, guest list, everything!!! I suspected a surprise at some point, but they kept throwing me off every single time 😭

Fast forward to the week of my birthday, they got me out of the house and BOOM! A surprise pre-birthday dinner.

I was completely shocked and still am. The love and effort my friends put into this means more than I can explain. I’m so grateful ❤️

This was the first of three birthday celebrations this month btw 😂🎉
