The Horizons Shimmering Slows Down All Other Perceptions, Meera Shakti Osborne, 2026

Created for Fieldhead Hospital as part of our Yorkshire project, and now on show in What Art Can Change at The Art House, Wakefield.
Taking its title from Etel Adnan's Shifting the Silence, the work grew out of workshops where participants explored horizons, nature and the self, alongside the gardens at The Hepworth Wakefield. Its colours come from things noticed together, like yellow grass with small hints of purple and green.

Look closely and you'll find a small grass shape, representing softness, movement and the ability to keep going, and springs inspired by a service user's tattoo design imagining a "spring in your step". In an early workshop, a participant shared an image of an open door leading to a sunset sky, and that sense of cycles and starting again runs through the work. The fading light is a reminder that the sun will rise again.

Meera is a multimedia artist and youth worker from London whose work explores landscapes as sites of reckoning and renewal, where apocalypses and utopias sit side by side.

Join Meera at The Art House on 27 October for Shimmering Horizons, a free workshop exploring personal futures through painting, writing and conversation. Link in bio.

📅 What Art Can Change, open until 31 October 2026, The Art House, Wakefield

𝑅𝓊𝓂𝑜𝓊𝓇𝓈 is a live programme tracing oral histories across the margins, engaging gossip as a form of insurgent knowledge, collective memory, & survival strategy.

Across performance-lectures, mis/remembered archival fragments, & dis/embodied research, 𝑅𝓊𝓂𝑜𝓊𝓇𝓈 asks: What happens when gossip becomes an archive? What survives in gesture when language betrays? Can certain truths only be articulated through f(r)iction? What if the future is something we remember?

The Fungus Press run for 'Tending' is ending this Sat 26 Sept!

"Antenna in the mud sending out and receiving signals. Transmission through our fingertips live and direct. Oh no - that’s the word. Somewhere between hiding and seeing everything. A hope and a prayer. Apocalypse and utopia sitting side by side. Running away. Reaching out. Finding you finding me. Lost and found on loop. "

Extending tendrils from our last gallery project, artists from 'Tending' present newly commissioned work across Croydon Town Centre as part of our public billboard project, Fungus Press. Meera Shakti Osborne [@mso_4rt] shares 'Antenna in the Mud' and 'I love you and I want genocide to stop' at Wandle Park.

'I love you and I want genocide to stop' takes it's title from June Jordan's poem:

I SAID I LOVED YOU AND I WANTED
GENOCIDE TO STOP
I SAID I LOVED YOU AND I WANTED AFFIRMATIVE
ACTION AND REACTION
I SAID I LOVED YOU AND I WANTED MUSIC
OUT THE WINDOWS
I SAID I LOVED YOU AND I WANTED
NOBODY THIRST AND NOBODY
NOBODY COLD
I SAID I LOVED YOU AND I WANTED I WANTED
JUSTICE UNDER MY NOSE

Tending – Closing Gathering 🌳
Sat 20 Jun 1-4pm

Join us to celebrate the closing of Turf’s latest exhibition Tending in a gathering focusing on listening to the artworks before they leave the gallery. This Closing Gathering will give you moments to immerse yourself in the exhibition, with:

🌱 2-3pm: Gathering Space: join in a final moment with the artworks, with snacks and refreshments available
🌱 3-4pm: Listening Space: Listen to a radio interruption, made by the artists, tuning into the more-than-human sounds of Croydon. ‘Tending Transmissions’ is an audio intervention, drawing sonic attention to reflecting, dreaming and resting to the listener. Take a moment to put down your shopping bags and pay attention to the unheard beings that occupy the airwaves.

Emerging in Spring, Tending culminates in the Summer, the day before the Solstice. Having grown roots planted in At the Meadow’s Edge, it invites reflection on how we notice, care for and relate to each other and our environment. Artworks awaken the senses, shared alongside spaces for rest and reflection. Join us in cultivating attentive and sensory explorations as being present and curious in moving through the world.

Muntjac and friends make for a defiant presence on the boards of Fungus Press around the Wandle, the place I called home for my first months in the world 🫶🏽
