It would be remiss of me not to take a moment and share how grateful I am for community.

Yesterday was a bittersweet day...

Full of emotions...
Full of reminders...
Full of celebrating a life that has had ian impact on many lives.

Yhinny "LadeeBugz" Matos, your essence, your spirit in physical form will be so missed. Thank you for planting seeds in so many lives. Those are going to grow on forever and ever - until we are each called home.

The way community came together yesterday to celebrate Yhinny's life.. no words can really capture the love, the reminders, the stories - that was shared in that room.

And we danced for you Darling! While holding pain we were able to make space for joy.

The joy of your life...
The joy of your impact...
The joy of your presence.

We are going to miss you SisStar!

All we can continue to do is lean in the moment and carry forward with us your legacy.

Until the universe reconnects us again!

Some days at Micro Plant Studio are completely unpredictable. Sometimes I don’t know who’s placing an order, and sometimes I do.

A couple of days ago, an alert popped up on my phone paying homage to Yhinny Matos—a prominent Boston youth advocate, community organizer, and pioneering dancer who passed away on August 27 at the age of 49. When I read it, I had to stop for a moment. Some news hits differently. I closed my eyes and paid tribute to her bright spirit, her legacy, and her light.

Yhinny was truly special. Even from afar, her smile and her passion for dance were unforgettable. Years ago, as a festival organizer in the South End, I invited Yhinny and her crew, the Floor Lords, to perform for our youth. She was always smiling, radiating positivity, and present with everyone she met—no matter where they came from. She brightened every single space she walked into.

Shortly after seeing that post, I received a text requesting flowers for a funeral. This order was deeply personal—I knew the client, and I knew the recipient. We discussed the details and delivery logistics, knowing how much this arrangement meant to everyone involved.

Today, I woke up at 5:00 AM to design and deliver her flowers. The client chose hot pink, light pink, and white—a palette carrying a deep sense of tranquility and love.

As I worked with each bloom, I was reminded that flowers do not only bring us happiness—they also remind us that we are responsible for our own light, and for allowing that light to radiate beyond our intentions. Death is a natural part of our existence on this planet, yet so few of us are ever truly ready to mourn. While we are here, it is up to us to plant seeds for the betterment of our society, just as Yhinny did throughout her life.

Rest in power, peace, and light, Yhinny. #microplantstudio #death #flowers #boston #yhinnatos
