The Presidential Distinguished Lecture Series is tomorrow as part of Tougaloo College's 157th Founders' Week! 🦅

Join us as we welcome Charles V. Taylor Jr., executive director of the Mississippi State Conference NAACP and principal at Peyton Strategies, a Mississippi political data firm. Taylor comes from a background in community organizing. In 2012, he served as a state organizer for the NAACP's "This Is My Vote" campaign, which registered more than 29,000 Black voters in Mississippi. He was also a field director and campaign coordinator for Initiative 42, the Better Schools, Better Jobs ballot initiative to fully fund education.

The Cooper family wants what anyone would want. What everyone deserves.
The truth. Transparency. And an actual investigation into the death of their son.
But Mississippi officials appear to be doing everything they can to keep the family from getting answers.
The family is being denied access to public records. They are now being told by the District Attorney’s office that they need an attorney and a subpoena to obtain records related to their son’s case.
They have also been told they must travel across the county themselves to obtain James’s tablet and they can’t authorize someone else to pick it up for them.
Why? What are they hiding?
A female told James she was dying. She reportedly told him she had only about a month left to live. James traveled with her from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Metcalfe, #Mississippi, so she could spend what were supposedly her final days with her mother.
But James would be the one who died.
Less than two weeks after arriving in Mississippi, James was found hanging from a utility pole.
The woman reportedly told police that James was constantly suicidal.
But medical records, family members, and friends tell a very different story.
The accounts given by the woman and her mother have also been described by witnesses as contradictory. Multiple witnesses have raised concerns about the information provided to authorities.
The sheriff who oversaw the case was indicted by the FBI last fall on unrelated federal charges. Some witnesses have said they were afraid to come forward because they believed local law enforcement was corrupt.
The Cooper family deserves answers.
They deserve transparency.
They deserve access to the records involving their son.
And they deserve a thorough, independent investigation into what happened to James.
Help us share James Cooper’s story.
Don’t let unanswered questions disappear.

It's time for the Jackson County Sheriff's Office to subpoena the friends.

Everyone wants to know where Nolan was.

But if you want answers, the real question is: Where was everyone who was with him between 3 PM and 11:07 PM?

A competent investigation should account for: every text message
every group chat
every photo
every video
every phone record
and every social media account relevant to reconstructing what happened.

If the Jackson County Sheriff's Office has corroborated witness statements with digital evidence, then show us the timeline and explain to us without inconsistencies where Nolan's friends were during those critical hours.

Sending this case to a grand jury without this critical evidence is sabotage.

We want #EveryFriendEveryMinute accounted for. We want #JusticeForNolan.
