(PT abaixo) This month marks 4 years since I moved to the United States to pursue my PhD in History. Navigating another culture, language, academic format, requirements, and doctoral milestones has been an interesting experience. I needed to embrace the challenge and fight my internal battles of self-sabotage and shyness. It may sound clicheฬ, but the 2022 Estela would not believe how amazing this journey has been, from having a great community of friends who are also far from home to receiving awards and recognition for the work I have been doing. I had the pleasant surprise of being chosen as one of the departmentโ€™s spotlights for the 2025-2026 year. This recognition not only rewards all the hard work over these years, but also gives me the strength to continue. I am genuinely thankful to everyone who has been supporting my studies and my goal of earning a PhD in Latin American History โœจโณ **** Este meฬ‚s marca 4 anos desde que me mudei para os Estados Unidos para cursar meu doutorado em Histoฬria. Navegar outra cultura, idioma, estrutura acadeฬ‚mica e requisitos do programa tem sido uma experieฬ‚ncia interessante. Entaฬƒo tive que abracฬงar esse desafio e lutar minhas batalhas internas, principalmente a autossabotagem e a timidez. Pode parecer clicheฬ‚, mas a Estela de 2022 naฬƒo acreditaria em como essa jornada tem sido incriฬvel, desde ter uma grande comunidade de amizades que tambeฬm estaฬƒo longe de casa ateฬ receber preฬ‚mios e reconhecimentos pelo trabalho que tenho feito. No ano acadeฬ‚mico de 2025-2026 fui uma das estudantes destaques do programa. Esse reconhecimento naฬƒo apenas reconhece todo o trabalho duro ao longo desses anos, mas tambeฬm me daฬ forcฬงa para continuar.
