🔎 Hunger and poverty in America are closely related. People with lower incomes are less likely to be able to afford healthy food regularly.

.
.

However, not everyone who faces hunger lives at or below the poverty line. Two-thirds of our neighbors in need live above the poverty line and, therefore, are ineligible for food programs that could help them make ends meet.

.
.

💡Facts about poverty and hunger in America

.
.

According to the Census, in 2020 over 37 million people lived in poverty.

.
.

Food insecurity and hunger are economic issues. The most common cause of food insecurity is a lower income.

.
.

Making ends meet with a lower income is more difficult if you are unemployed or employed in low-wage work, experience a financial emergency, have limited savings, etc.

.
.

The data collected through the @mtc.kitchen / @mtclegacy in America series continues to help guide our program development that seeks to improve food security for individuals and their households. It is also used to inform public policy and support for ending hunger in America — La Lucha Sigue.

We’re just getting started. Thank You for your continued support. 💯 #MoreThan

Legendary: Christmas Special | Respect to a living legend — Kentucky native Jim Finch loaded up his truck & drove right to the middle of the disaster zone to feed and help anyone in need in the aftermath of the Mayfield tornadoes 🙏💯
.
.
.
.
.
—————————
Finch💭: “I know they don’t have electricity. No restaurants. No running water. I just figured I would do what I could do. So I showed up with some food and some water.”.
.
.
In these challenging times — things are getting tougher for all of us.
.
.
Everything from the pandemic to financial hardships — life’s a struggle .
.
.
And, as if things couldn’t get more difficult, the total loss of life due to the tornadoes in Mayfield, Kentucky is still unclear and it is feared there could be as many as 100+ people dead.
.
.
The Super Typhoon Rai death toll has risen to 375 and displaced more than 481,000 people in the Philippines.
.
.
No matter how much we try to turn a blind eye and ignore what’s going on in the world — we all see it, we all agree that life is tough and unpredictable.
.
.
No matter how well-thought-out our plans might be, they’re bound to be challenged at some point.
.
.
If you happen to be going through a rough time right now — think of Jim Finch and remember these hard times will pass, just try to stay strong.
.
.
Even when it sounds easier said than done.
.
.
If you’re able — give selflessly without expecting anything in return — just like Finch, aid others no matter how insignificant it may seem.
.
.
Help folks going through it from your heart and make a real difference in their lives.
.
.
Don’t forget to give respect where its due — salute to a living Legend #JimFinch
