Oggi, 12 settembre, è una data profondamente legata alla mia famiglia e al mio cuore.

La mia meravigliosa mamma, Maria Teresa Sgambati, festeggiava il suo onomastico; mio padre, Giovan Giacomo Giordano, celebrava il compleanno e oggi avrebbe compiuto 101 anni.

Queste tre fotografie raccontano la nostra storia: nella prima, i miei genitori sono uniti dall’amore e dalla complicità; nella seconda ritrovo le nostre radici, con i miei carissimi nonni Ernesto Sgambati ed Elvira Castaldo Sgambati accanto ai miei giovani genitori; nell’ultima, i loro ritratti continuano a vegliare sulla Sbarro Health Research Organization e sul lavoro nato anche dai valori che mi hanno trasmesso.

Erano persone illuminate e illuminanti. Il tempo può sottrarci una presenza, ma non l’amore ricevuto: chi ci ha insegnato a vivere continua a vivere nelle nostre scelte e nel bene che lasciamo agli altri.

Con immenso amore, profondo rispetto e infinita gratitudine. Sempre vivi nella memoria, sempre presenti nel cuore. ❤️❤️❤️

Today, September 12, is a date deeply connected to my family and my heart.

My wonderful mother, Maria Teresa Sgambati, celebrated her name day, while my father, Giovan Giacomo Giordano, celebrated his birthday. Today, he would have turned 101.

These three photographs tell our story: the love shared by my parents; our roots, with my beloved grandparents Ernesto Sgambati and Elvira Castaldo Sgambati beside my parents in their younger years; and finally, their portraits watching over the Sbarro Health Research Organization and the work inspired by the values they gave me.

They were enlightened people who brought light to others. Time may take away a presence, but never the love we received. Those who taught us how to live continue to live through our choices and the good we leave behind.

With immense love, profound respect, and boundless gratitude. Forever alive in my memory, forever present in my heart. ❤️❤️❤️

BOSTON MARATHON! about to be muy queso, watch out. really thought this one was over hyped but boy was i wrong. thank you boston for the happy tears, the muscle cramps, the hugs from strangers, and the PR (~~technically ?? 2:49 😈). after about 12 weeks of waking up at the crack of dawn, sometimes in the freezing snow, i got to dance on the big stage!!! this was an insane day and i’m so grateful to the ppl of boston and my friends & family that came to cheer me on (as well as virtually!!!) 🌈 i will be riding this high for a hot minute!
