MADChapter9 – Valve Covers On. Engine Bay Cleared. Real Work in Motion. 🔧 Last chapter, you saw us laying down that rich red coat on the valve covers and oil pan — bold, unapologetic, and ready to stand out 🔥. In this chapter, it’s all about installation and precision. 🎥 Early on, Marcus is shown torquing the valve cover bolts by hand — not just tightening, but torquing down to spec. That’s craftsmanship. That’s discipline. That’s how we do it right the first time. No shortcuts, no guessing. By the end of the chapter, we bring in the air compressor to purge the entire engine bay — every corner, every crevice. This is prep at its finest. We’re not dropping this motor in until the space is worthy of it. 💪🏾 It’s the little steps that build big engines. 👀 Stay tapped in — next chapter, this motor’s coming home. — If you’re vibing with this build, if you’ve ever had to rebuild your life, your engine, your purpose — support the movement. We start off Chapter 8 of the F-150 MAD series by washing the oil pan with gasoline. I mentioned in the video that I didn’t see any oil in it — what I meant was we didn’t see any metal in the oil. That’s a good sign. From the looks of it, the previous owner was doing regular oil changes. Next, we paint the oil pan red — even though Marcus wanted it black. That’s a whole discussion right there. We also hit the valve covers with red paint to match. At the end of the video, we torque the spark plugs into the engine — because doing this before the engine goes in makes life a whole lot easier. It’s always a hassle to reach those plugs once the motor’s installed. Brand new Motorcraft spark plugs went in smooth. Shouts out @elbey_projects El beys Bay @mtl_elbey1 for always helping my builds, I always ask to help@him in his cool builds, he’s doing those LS SWAPS, on that Nissan body. When it comes to making an engine better and changing key components like the timing chain—well, enough of that. What did we do? On this one, I remember us putting in a new coolant sensor—OEM from Ford. Some things just have to be OEM, especially on a build like this when you’re already mixing in aftermarket parts. I had originally bought one from AutoZone, but ended up going to the dealer. And honestly, some things just require dealer-level parts—no matter what people say about the cost. That coolant sensor from the dealer? I’m glad I paid for it. The AutoZone one didn’t work. We also replaced some gaskets—especially that O-ring that seals the oil pump. Solid move. We went back in with new spark plugs too. I couldn’t afford the Motorcraft ignition coils, and the warranty wasn’t really worth it for me. I did get the AutoZone warranty on the plugs, though I wish I had bought them individually so I could swap them one by one. Buying the whole set means you’ve got to return the whole set. That’s not smart long-term. But the spark plugs are Motorcraft, and I made sure we used a Motorcraft oil filter—which people really underestimate in importance. There are just some components you can’t go cheap on. I couldn’t swing OEM timing chains, so we used the Cloyes timing kit. Most of the other parts came from AutoZone or the local parts store—for the warranties. Lifetime water pump warranty. Fuel pump warranty. That’s part of the bigger plan too. This isn’t just mechanical work—it’s spiritual. It’s like performing open-heart surgery. We’re not just fixing a truck—we’re restoring a machine that represents freedom, duty, and resilience. May God bless this engine, and keep it running strong in my hands, my tribe’s hands, and my family’s hands. We didn’t rebuild the heads or do the head gaskets. Maybe we should have. But we were working out of a shared space, and our partner recommended against it because of the bolt risks with the intake manifold. We respected his call. #f150mad #f150 #ford TritonV8 #BuiltNotBought #F150Restoration

As a Caribbean-West Indian American, a man of trade, grit, and vision, I knew I needed this truck. This is the first vehicle I have ever owned, I bought this car seven months after I came back into America having not lived here for 10 years plus. Because spending my time in the United States, I came to learn that I’m a utilitarian and that a man has to have a truck. My Elder came with me and we went looking for trucks at the time. I was advised to buy a @Ford Ranger. I wish I had listened. Since I’ve gotten this truck, it had problems and from those problems it was part of my career as a technician earlier on before I went to Atlanta Technical College And this is where I would spend my time work and that’s how I had a little knowledge as my knowledge progressed, we found that maybe buying a used engine would be the way and so this is what is the birth of F150 M.A.D ‘my American Dream’ this is what that series is built upon.. if you’d like to support, send me a DM, you can send money via Cash app, Zelle, etc. we’re definitely looking to get that transmission rebuilt next But in the meantime, keep on with a series. Hope to see you soon in a different chapters. @fordtrucks how am i looking? #F150MAD #TruckRebuild #FordTrucks #EngineRebuild #FordStrong #BuiltNotBought #Ford #TritonV8

In Chapter 7, we’re deep into the rebuild process — covering what we’ve done and setting up what’s next. We start off with a recap of the MELLING oil pump and the gold water pump install — clean and efficient. From there, we dive into our CLOYES timing components kit — 🛠️ Guides, chains, tensioners — piece by piece. We also break down what makes the MELLING oil pump different — it gives you 8% more oil pressure over the stock setup. Better flow, better performance. You’ll see us walk through the timing chain installation in full: • Chains going in • Guides set • Tensioners locked • And finally, rotation to confirm timing is set 🔄 Marcus stays rotating it carefully, showing exactly how we verify it’s done right. At the end of the video, we’re cleaning the oil pan, and we leave a little mystery there… 👀 We’ll open up that part in Chapter 8. ⸻ 💬 Got any questions about the process or parts we used? Drop them below. 💸 Want to support this rebuild? Donate via Zelle, Cash App, or PayPal — every bit helps. 📍 Chapter 8 opens where this one ends. Chapter 6 – The Truck Moves Again (F-150 M.A.D. Series) After almost two years sitting, we finally started putting the F-150 back together so we can tow it over to EL BEY BAYS — Marcus’s operation — to finish prepping it for the rehauled engine. 🚚 Yeah, we had to tow it with a GMC, sorry @Ford @fordtrucks 😅 — but we’re still waiting for y’all to hit us up. Let’s work. 🙏🏽 Major thanks to my mentees who came out and helped us wrench, push, prep, and put this thing back together piece by piece. 🎥 In the video, you’ll see: • Manual loading and prep • The winch failing on us • Us pulling the truck by hand for hours • Real teamwork. Real sweat. What should’ve taken 40 minutes… ended up taking the whole day. But we got it done. 💯 And big shoutout to Marcus Lawrence — real technician, real friend, and someone who’s been holding this process down since Day 1. ⸻ 💬 Drop your thoughts or questions below. 💸 You can support this build through Cash App, Zelle, or PayPal — this project is powered by the people. 📍 Chapter 7 is coming next. #F150MAD #MADChapter6 #TruckRebuild #Ford54 #fordtrucks #EngineRebuild #f150 #RealWork #WrenchLife #ITWRKS #LegacyBuild #Tritonv8 #georgia

Chapter 5 – Setting Timing, Removing Chains, and Dropping the Pump (F-150 M.A.D. Series) In Chapter 5, we’re getting serious with this 5.4L Triton rebuild. 👊🏽 Me and Marcus walk through how we’re setting the timing before removing the timing chains. This part matters — it’s how you make sure the engine stays in sync and doesn’t get damaged when you pull everything apart. 🔧 Once that was locked in, we removed both timing chains, then moved in and took off the old oil pump, water pump 🧰 From there, @mtl_elbey1 used the ELBEY method to pull the water pump clean. Then I got deep into cleaning — 🧼 Timing cover seals were scrubbed down ⛽️ The timing chain cover was coated and cleaned with gasoline to break up all the baked-on grime and oil buildup. I was all in — trying different tools, getting creative, and making sure nothing went back dirty. It wasn’t an easy task, but love is love🤣 💡 One of the most overlooked things we changed was the oil pump O-ring — it’s a common leak point if reused, and it was a must-fix for this build. 🔥 And finally, we dropped in a brand-new MELLING oil pump. Not high-pressure, but a solid middle ground — stronger than stock, reliable, and ready for work. This chapter is hands-on, raw, and real — exactly what this rebuild is about. ⸻ 💬 Got questions? Drop them below. 💸 Want to support the build? You can donate via Zelle, Cash App, or PayPal — we’re rebuilding this from scratch with no shop, no sponsor, just real grind. And @Ford — we’re out here rebuilding your legacy engines piece by piece. Let’s talk. We’d love to represent this work the right way. 📍 Chapter 6 is already in motion. Follow the F-150 M.A.D. Series. Chapter 4 – Getting Inside the timing cover (F-150 MAD Series) In Chapter 4 of the F-150 MAD series, we pulled the timing chain cover off this 5.4L Triton Me and Marcus go back and forth in this one — you’ll hear us talking through what we see, how it looks, what’s involved, and just trying to get a full feel for what we’re working with. We found plastic shards from the broken timing chain tensioner, but no metal, no sludge. The original Ford oil pump was still intact. So far, things are clean — but this right here is why we’re not just swapping it in and calling it good. We’re doing a full rehaul. We’re learning. We’re building. I’m definitely learning and arguing with my brother MARCUS you know but it’s it’s good. I really believe in this engine and this is something that’s very passionate to me because this is all I have right now you know I don’t have anything else and this is something that I’m really passionate about because I need it and this truck is gonna be a pathway to my freedom inshallah. 🙏🏽 Big thanks again to @mtl_elbey1 Marcus Lawrence for pulling up and supporting. 📍 Chapter 5 is coming. 🗣️ Drop a comment, show love, and follow the process. #F150MAD #F150Rebuild #TritonV8 #ITWRKS #EngineBuild #TruckContent #GeorgiaMechanic #legacybuild #ford #f150 @ford come holler at ya boys

F-150 MAD, My American Dream Chapter 1: What a Dream 🇺🇸🛻 It all started in 2023. I was on my way to get married, and I wanted to show up strong — not just in words, but in action. So I bought this 1999 5.4 2Valve single cab long bed F-150. Not because it was perfect — it wasn’t. But because I was advised about potential in it, the same way I saw potential in myself, in my future, and in my family. Damn, it’s a real truck I wanted this truck to represent more than just horsepower. I wanted it to represent my commitment — to my wife, to her family, and to the man I was becoming. We knew the truck had issues. But we believed in the process. We believed in what we could build. So this is the journey. From pulling the engine out with our own hands… to now, two years later, still pushing forward. Welcome to F-150 MAD: My American Dream. Let’s ride. #F150MAD #itwrks #FordF150 #TruckBuild #1999f150 #ford #triton #truck You can financially support the build via cash app or Zelle $AlatuDreams
