IT’S HERE. Our store-wide closing sale starts TODAY — the only sale we’ve ever had, and your last chance to shop the creations of Alberta’s Own 150 artists, artisans and small businesses with big hearts.

We’ll be open for as long as there’s stock, but not past November 15. Come by for a farewell, and get a head start on your holiday shopping.

This is a post that I hoped I’d never have to make.

The shop had made it through so many of the challenges we’ve faced over the past nine years: flooding, a global pandemic, years of staffing shortages. Somehow, the universe has always provided in the most dire of situations. But this time is different. Over the course of the past six months, the entire Alberta’s Own team — who’ve all been representing our vendors for between three-to-five years — has been forced to leave Canmore or leave the workforce, and with the staffing shortage in the Bow Valley, I’ve no hope of replacing five full-time staff before November.

And so, Alberta’s Own storefront will be closing November 15.

Consider this your ten-day warning to get in here and grab the one-of-a-kind items, because they won’t be restocked. At the end of the ten days, on October 15, the closing sale will begin.

Our goal is to set up our vendors to financially survive the winter. For many of them, sales from Alberta’s Own have come to represent more than half their annual revenue, and it’s critically important to me that they are taken care of as we transition to online on 2027. So they will be receiving their full cut of every purchase, but Alberta’s Own will offer discounts so that you can start your Christmas shopping early and save big time on all your favourite locally-created items.

Your support over the years has meant everything to me. The fact that you all believed in — and SUPPORTED — this dream of showcasing Albertans’ talents to the world… well, there are no words. But even more than that support, this has become a community. A space where people care about one another, look for the good, and support the greater good.

I’m going to miss seeing your faces. So please, come in sometime in the next 42 days to help us celebrate all we accomplished together, and help close this chapter on a high note.

With heart,
Laura

You’re not just filling a basket.
You’re choosing from businesses that started at kitchen tables, in basements, garages and little home studios across Alberta.

A snack from one. A candle from another. A card, something for the house, maybe something you absolutely did not come in for.

Before you know it, one basket has supported several small businesses.
That’s what shopping local can look like.
And we think that’s pretty freakin' cool.

⭐ Today’s Featured WINGMAN ⭐

Returning WINGMAN Adam Walker has been part of the campaign for the past few years, helping raise awareness about family violence and encouraging others to get involved.

Adam is the business owner behind MTNPK Glassware, a local business that has generously supported Wings over the years. He is also a husband and father who believes everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home.

In his words:

“We live in a safety bubble and are sometimes oblivious to what others may be going through. This campaign is a reminder for myself and my network that domestic violence is real and we need to do more to recognize it and do what we can to help victims.”

For Adam, the reason to keep standing up is simple: “It breaks my heart to know that people are not safe in their own home. Domestic violence needs to stop.”

Thank you, Adam, for once again standing with Wings as a WINGMAN!

WINGMAN runs throughout the month of September. Follow along as we introduce this year’s incredible WINGMEN as they raise awareness and funds for Wings, share their stories, and encourage our community to get involved.

Thanks to a generous matching gift from CanadaOne Auto, Waterloo Ford Lincoln, and Freedom Ford, all donations made to the 2026 WINGMAN Campaign will be matched up to $40,000! That means every gift made during WINGMAN goes twice as far to help provide safe housing, counselling, childcare, and critical supports for women and children rebuilding their lives after family violence.

Hi! It’s been a while since I’ve introduced myself, so I thought it was time. 👋

I’m Kari, the founder and heart behind 𝗞𝗿𝗲𝟴𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗚𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀.

I started Kre8tive Karma because I’ve always loved creating, finding beautiful and unique things, and most of all, making people feel special. What started as a passion has grown into a business I’m incredibly proud of — and today, I’m lucky to have an amazing team beside me helping bring it all to life.

We put a lot of heart into everything we do. From discovering incredible local and small-batch makers to thoughtfully designing every little detail, our goal is always to create gifts that feel beautiful, personal and memorable.

For me, gifting has never been just about what’s inside the box. It’s about the feeling someone gets when they receive it — knowing someone took the time to think of them and make them feel special.

To those who have been here for a while, thank you for supporting Kre8tive Karma and allowing us to be part of so many special moments. And if you’re new here — welcome! We’re so happy you found us. ❤️

Here’s to creating gifts with 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗿𝗲𝟴𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮. ✨

Last *pre-booked* van trip of the season took us to Southern Alberta. There’s something about the rolling hills, prairies, and the rivers and streams that flow through them.

@mtnpkglass glasses are a necessity in the van. Pouring wine in the Three Sisters wine glass 🍷and whiskey in the Pyramid Mountain tumbler 🥃
