Standing on the Miss New York USA stage as an Official State Finalist representing the borough where I was born and raised, Queens, was a full-circle moment I’ll carry with me forever. Life may have led me to the Bronx, but Queens will always be the foundation of my story. Representing my home borough meant honoring far more than a place on a map. It meant carrying my Puerto Rican roots, my community, my resilience, and every chapter that shaped me. ✨

As I welcome August, step into Virgo season, and prepare to celebrate my 30th birthday, I find myself reflecting less on accomplishments and more on transformation. 🌿 This season isn’t asking me to become someone new. It’s inviting me to return to the woman I was always meant to be. I’ve been reflecting on every version of Jessica that quietly built this life: the one who thought making it through the day was enough, the one who outgrew what no longer served her, and the one who kept choosing possibility over certainty, faith over fear, and progress over perfection.

Today, I don’t look back at her with regret. I look back with gratitude. 🤍 She carried responsibilities that were never meant for a child and learned to survive before she had the chance to simply exist. She made the best decisions she could with what she knew, and every setback became wisdom. Somewhere along the way, I made a quiet promise to myself: I would stop building my life around survival and start building it around intention.

Everything I create today is an extension of that promise: to make my younger self proud, honor the woman I am today, and build a life my future self will one day thank me for.

Growth isn’t about becoming someone else. It’s about remembering who you are beneath the survival, fear, and expectations. Here’s to new beginnings, softer seasons, and stepping into a new decade with intention. 🦋

⭐️🗽 Becoming an Official State Finalist for Miss New York USA 2026 was never about becoming someone new. It was about expanding the platform of who I’d already spent years becoming. Every opportunity I’ve earned has been built on one belief: choosing courage over comfort, purpose over fear, and faith over certainty.

I pursued @missnyusa to amplify a mission on this stage to foster conversations around healing after domestic violence, mental health, identity, proving that the experiences many fear will define or disqualify them can become the very reason they are uniquely equipped to lead.

My intention in documenting my life is to demonstrate that healing and ambition can coexist, that transparency is a leadership strength, and that our greatest setbacks can become the foundation of our greatest contribution.

In just six weeks, I built this campaign through vision and determination. Just one week before stepping onto the Miss New York USA stage, I stood beside my family at my grandfather’s funeral. The following day, I announced I was competing. My phone filled with congratulations and condolences at the same time, a reminder that life rarely asks us to experience one emotion at a time. And still, we keep moving forward.

I advocated for myself in rooms where no one knew my name, pitched sponsors, built partnerships, navigated rejection with grace, adapted when plans changed, and made challenges appear effortless, even when so much of the support I had hoped for, never came.

The greatest thing I walked away with was undeniable evidence that the woman I’d been becoming for a lifetime belongs in every room she is called to enter. Success isn’t measured only by titles. It’s measured by transformation.

This account has never been a highlight reel. It’s a transparent record of building a purpose-driven life in real time, the victories, the valleys, and all they teach along the way. This prepared me for the legacy I’m called to build.

If this journey reinforced one truth, it’s this: our circumstances may shape our story, but they never have the final say. We do. 🫱🏼‍🫲🏽🦋
