Some ideas start as jokes… and then somehow turn into something real.

What began as “let’s try pottery for fun” turned into me sitting there, completely locked in, shaping something with my own hands… one imperfect curve at a time.

There’s something strangely grounding about working with clay. No shortcuts. No undo button. Just patience, pressure, and a bit of instinct.

This mug?
It’s not perfect. It’s got bumps, uneven lines, and a personality of its own… but that’s exactly what makes it mine.

And maybe… just maybe… it’s going to hold someone’s coffee soon ☕

✨ Things I learnt —
If you really want to do something, do it alone — waiting holds you back.
I learnt to learn again, to be okay with being a beginner.
I learnt to create just for the fun of it, without any pressure.
Everything you create isn’t meant to be held onto — sometimes art just wants to flow through you.
And every mess? Eventually turns into something beautiful.

Plum & Cream Pastry Cake (eggless)

I generally don’t do layered cakes of any kind, but this recipe has given me ‘some’ confidence in my skills.

The plum butter was a revelation! And it works really well balancing out the creamy indulgent pastry cream. The puff pastry retains a bit of its texture, the cake is soft, it really has everything.

Since I nearly halved the original recipe and was making everything eggless, I wasn’t really sure how much cake or pastry cream or plum butter or puff pastry was needed. Needless to say that was stressful.
Ooh and did I mention the puff pastry is also made from scratch in hindsight store bought would have been easier, but when have we ever made things easier for ourselves 🫣

Anywho this recipe is a winner !! Thank you @redcurrantbakery for sharing your brilliance.

On a side note I made that serving plate, with the tiny flowers (my first pottery project) with the patient guidance from @mudcastpottery ☺️

A little clay, a lot of chaos... and suddenly you’re an artist.

Last week’s Pottery Experience was all about slowing down, getting our hands messy, and turning regular Sundays into something magical.
From wheel-throwing to hand-building, beginners discovered their inner sculptors — and left with a piece of themselves in clay.
