The unlikely story of the FIRST Thanksgiving leftover sandwich

It was Thanksgiving 2003. Just before midnight, @jensthelens hits up my Nokia3310 to let me know he’s in my driveway. I tip toe out of my bedroom, down the hallway and into the kitchen.I open the refrigerator and its light glows on my face as I investigate the leftovers from earlier that day. I didn’t have much time, so I quickly grab half a pumpkin pie and the Tupperware filled with mashed taters and scurry back to my bedroom. After gently closing my bedroom door, I open my 1st floor window and climb outside to head towards my driveway. As I approach I see Chris waiting by my silver 1995 Ford escort. He’s got his game face on and he’s holding a plastic bag filled with his own thanksgiving leftovers. I get in the car and put in neutral. chris puts his plastic bag on the hood and starts pushing without either of us saying a word. We both already knew the game plan. As I’m steering the car with the headlights off in reverse while chris is pushing with all his strength, the thought of getting caught creeps into my brain. I was 17 and definitely not supposed to be going out this late, let alone taking the escort for a spin. But I shake it off and re focus myself to the task at hand. There’s no turning back now. Once on the street, Chris gets in the passenger seat and I start the car and turn on the headlights. I look over at my moms bedroom window which is right next to the driveway. I wait 10 seconds but her lights never turn on. We’re in the clear. I turn on the radio and K-rocks solid state is on. I hand chris a camel light, plug in the car lighter, we both manually roll down the windows and take off down the road.

After a quick 5 minute ride to the next town over, we get to @onebigholidaze street. I turn down the music, and park about 5 houses away.We walk along the sidewalk to Danny’s house and once out front, we start trying to avoid stepping on sticks and crunchy leaves so we don’t wake up @vboe214 We walk along the side of the house, and once we get into the backyard we know everyone else has already arrived because we see their bikes hidden behind Danny’s trampoline... continued in comments

So when a friend lost her ring, I opted to make her a simple wooden one. I then kicked it up a notch and built this. Maple burl hand-painted to resemble a coral reef, with dyed resin and it even has jelly fish and a mystery fish. All hand made with about 5 total hours of sanding and polishing, finished off staining the wood. #weekend #nature #ring #wood #coralreef #handmade #woodworking #woodwork #carpenter #labordayweekend #blue #maple
